Tyler Bray

Watching the Mizzou game and this Tennessee QB is amazing. I know he's a junior, but if he comes out he sure looks like the real deal to me. What sayeth you Chief fans?

DeezNutz 11-10-2012 12:59 PM

Great arm and has placed some passes into incredibly tight windows. Dude looks great today, but he's also faced zero pressure.

chiefzilla1501 11-10-2012 12:59 PM

He has all the physical tools to be the real deal. I'm not convinced he has the mental tools to be, especially in terms of having the drive to be great and having a killer instinct when the team needs it.

Mr_Tomahawk 11-10-2012 12:59 PM

He needs another year...mentally.

Hammock Parties 11-10-2012 01:00 PM

He's probably a 2nd round pick at this point.

KCUnited 11-10-2012 01:00 PM

Guy seems to be developing as the season progresses. He's throwing balls away that he would try to force earlier in the year. He's still raw, but he has a chapel ceiling.

BoneKrusher 11-10-2012 01:01 PM

i like him as well.
maybe 2014 will be the year to draft a QB in the top 5.
FWIW, Kiper's big board says there's not one worthy in 2013.

DTLB58 11-10-2012 01:02 PM

He needs to stay one more year.

Demonpenz 11-10-2012 01:07 PM

Does he move well? He just stands back there and launches.

Hammock Parties 11-10-2012 01:15 PM

I'd take him in the late 1st if by some unholy act of satan we're unable to get Barkley or Smith or whoever grades out as a top 10 QB pick.

BlackHelicopters 11-10-2012 01:19 PM

He is playing Mizzou. Answer your question?

as far as a true fan, i've stuck with the Chiefs through 4 years of Pioli and Cassel, IMO thats a true fan.

Yeah but he's playing Mizzou not the greatest competition

T-post Tom 11-10-2012 02:08 PM

His receivers drop a lot of balls, so his numbers should be better. I think he has massive upside. Like others have said, he needs to mature. Will be a top five pick if he stays his senior year. I predict that he'll be an elite NFL QB.

Right now his play does not equal top 10.

Inconsistent play, a really weird release and his assholeness mean 2nd round to me.

This is a dumb idea because you run the risk of an immediate QB controversy and it's tough to develop one rookie QB, let alone two at the same time.

THIS - he shits if he runs into ANY pressure, much the same way Cassel does. No thank you, I doubt this guy is ever anything substantial in the NFL.

FlaChief58 11-10-2012 02:47 PM

Dissagree, The QB spot is wide open, and anyone who is brought in will know that, therefore they will work as hard as they possibly can to become "the guy". That's how you create real QB competition and with the new rookie payscale it becomes very doable

KCUnited 11-10-2012 03:43 PM

He didn't look good throwing to his right down the stretch.

KC_Lee 11-10-2012 04:29 PM

Cannon for an arm but has accuracy problems. Seem plenty of UT games where he would miss open receivers. With a great QB coach he could be awesome but right now he is the second comming of Jeff George.

Nightfyre 11-10-2012 04:32 PM

I see a Ryan Leaf in him. A physically gifted QB, just not a mentally gifted one. If he grows out of that and matures as a leader, maybe.

Pick the guy with physical skill, hope to coach him up.

Not the same thing.

That doesn't answer the question. They still would probably prefer to develop both QB's as 4th rounders are not throw away picks. I asked if there was proof in recent years that said it was hard to develop two QB's at the same time. Plenty of QB's need to start as backups coming into the league and get mental reps. Not every QB can come in and start from day one.

I disagree.

Character matters. I want a qb who has confidence in the clutch and is willing to put the work in. I agree you have to have a certain minimum arm strength and accuracy. But I'd rather a guy with leadership, work ethic, and character. You can't be coached up if you don't put the work in. This is my big red flag on bray. I've said before... His skill is a lot better than Murray, but I think Murray will have better upside because I think he will be coachable.

Quite an arm that Bray has, too. I don't like his low point of release on some of those throws, but eh...

Mr_Tomahawk 11-22-2012 11:26 AM

The kid would have to destroy the combine and individual workouts to be the #1 overall pick...if he comes out.

He has the physical skill-set...but as others have stated, he needs more time to mature.

Still would rather take him, smith, or wilson over barkley and jones.

I'd imagine at least one of our GM candidates views Bray as the best of the bunch. I hope we choose a guy who can evaluate QBs, because that 1st pick in the draft, along with his HC hire is going to define his tenure here, just as Pioli's monumental mistake in trading for Cassel defined his.
