Does this team have an internal QB controversy?

This team has went south since the Steelers came to town. The tape showed Smith missing 4 to 5 TD opportunities. There have been other missed chances since. You know the players see the tape.

Meanwhile, we are starting to hear Mahomes is killing it in practice. From the players.

Coaches aren't going to say it publicly, but they don't have to. Players know.

Herd on Sunday Night Football that the Chiefs are playing with no passion. Both before the game and at halftime.

I'm guessing the players know it's time to play the guy that gives the team the best chance.

There absolutely should be a Quarterback controversy and it started the day we drafted Patrick by moving up 17 spots to get him.

milkshock 11-20-2017 06:58 AM

Let's hope there is.

Been sayin...

Nothing more demoralizing knowing you are fighting with one arm tied behind your back for sure.:hmmm:

There is no way in hell the players have any faith in Smith left. You can't have your QB play as bad as he has the last five games and keep faith. Smith had no rings and nothing he has ever done gives him that respect. If Andy benched him I highly doubt any player would complain. Smith deserves to be benched and let's face it, he should have been cut. Mahomes should start this week but of course it won't happen. Andy is scared to make that move because of Alex delicate feelings may get hurt. After the Bills kick his ass it will be Armageddon at Arrowhead.

The most telling point is the way that despite the 'new Alex' of this season, each and every defense for the last month and a half has openly laughed at him by ganging up on Hunt.

Absolutely no one fears him, well apart from his own offense, defense and fans.

No

Press: Any chance of possibly seeing PMII anytime soon?

Andy: "Hey, I just need to do a better job putting Alex in a better place to perform and call better plays. It's on me."

Press: You have lost the last 4/5 games averaging just 17 pts in those 4 losses with AS missing numerous WRs downfield. Are you concerned at all that this offense is severely sputtering knowing that you have PM2 that at least gives you a chance to connect on those downfield passes thus providing a spark for this offense getting KH going again because now defenses MUST respect PM2's arm?

Andy: Okay let's just stop with the change at QB talk. Like I said, this is on me and anymore change at the QB position talk will not be addressed.

There is no internal QB controversy.

When Mahomes was drafted every single scout, talking head, etc., said he was extremely raw and would need AT LEAST one year on the bench.

Reid immediately declared he wouldn't play the kid this year. Once camp rolled around Smith took the snaps with the ones. There was never an open competition.

People are trying to make a big deal out of the fact that he runs the scout team. So what. You don't read defenses, call plays, make adjustments at the line, etc.

Plus, the team is still in first place. There is no way in hell Andy Reid (or 99% of head coaches for that matter) is going to put in a raw rookie QB because the focus of attention would by on Andy Reid.

Red Dawg 11-20-2017 07:41 AM

Andy is plain old stupid. He can't take his personal feelings out of it and make the move. This season will end a loser and he will help that along because he's got no guts.

Did you make all of this up?

Why Not? 11-20-2017 08:05 AM

Of course. The KC media wouldn't ever dare ask any questions that had any bite at all

Dayze 11-20-2017 08:19 AM

I imagine Monday morning goes something like
"Coach, so....have you given any thought to the decision that needs to be made"

and Andy says
"yeah, i slept on it. I really think it's best if we use the spicy BBQ sauce for Wednesday Rib Day in the cafeteria".

The posts in this thread is the reason why a lot of you morons should never coach a football team at any level. There is no internal QB controversy. Why some of you would hope there is when it would be bad for the Chiefs I wonder... Makes me question what you think is more important what is good for the Chiefs or how you can satisfy your irrational hatred of Smitty?

Despite his struggles recently he still is pretty much top 5-10 in all major QB categories

QB Rating - 107.6 - #2
Compl % - 69.4 - #2
Yds - 2,674 - #5 Yds/Gm - 267 - #7
TDs - 18 - #6
INTs - 3 - Tied #2

He's doing fine overall. We are struggling right now on offense and he had a really bad game but you don't bench the guy and start a raw rookie over that. Reid has a good enough of an offensive mind to figure things out and get this offense/Alex 'Montana' Smith on track.

Smitty will bounce back. #GoSmittyGoChiefs
