Stuck my foot in my mouth today at work, pretty embarrassing. Black dude walked up and started helping me load my truck without me asking and then told me he already took care of my morning invoices.

My reply? "Thanks man, that was mighty white of you".

I never really thought about the meaning of this phrase until it came out of my mouth and I saw the look on his face. Its just something I heard my mom and grandad say when I was younger and like a dumbass I repeated it.

I quickly apologized and tried to explain that to him...he said he understood but I know he probably thinks I'm just another racist cracker now.

Tell him you caught Tourette's when a kid called you a terrible name and then sneezed on you. You may have to yell a lot of curse words over the next month until you find a cure.

Still not as bad as my mother who tries too hard to not sound racist that she sounds even more racist. For example, she refers to black people as "darkies" because the word black sounds racist to her.
