Not to nitpick or try to make the Colonel out as some idiot, but I bet if he had had more time to think it over he'd have told that kid something like..."ya know what, this was just an awesome thing for you to do, but to tell you the truth this note you wrote me is worth more than any money you could ever give, I bet your Dad would've wanted you to take this $20 and go buy yourself something cool with it".

I believe it said he actually already gave away the $20 bill to someone else and kept the note saying it gave him a lifetime reminder to always be better.
