I actually do believe that report.

I think he would look like a boss in a Cheaps uniform

Doing things like that out of respect, you won't be the best I'm the nfl for long.

They'll release him because they need the money to lock up more important positions than back up qb.

Gtfo with respect

It's no different than when a player is rewarded with a good contract when they were good to the team.

If you are rewarding guys for what they've done, not what they will do for you in the future, you suck at contract evaluations

You are just whining to whine now. You need a girlfriend and a vacation.

You don't spend that much money on a backup QB. Same reason why Flynn is likely bye bye.

They're looking to release or trade him to free up space because they have starters who contribute to re up. Plain and simple

The respect comes in to letting him approve a trade or not, and releasing him early in the FA market timeline.

Its already been pointed out that Kap is on his rookie contract until 2014, so the money is doable for another year and you cant argue that QB hasnt become such a singular focal point the last few years that you can afford to just let a good one run off without a strong pitch.

Two starting caliber QB's is a luxury any team would covet.

Its a valid point to say they might let him go out of respect, and thats the most likely scenario... but they would be dumb not to try and keep him around.

That is 7 million dollars they could spend on someone who won't be sitting on the bench.

Once again, the respect line was referring to WHO they will trade him to and WHEN they will release him.

I didn't say that. I said he's done acquiring polish.

He's not going to develop as a QB anymore. He's too old.

What has has now is what he has after spending so many seasons with the best QB coaches in the league in Green Bay.

I think we can do better than Flynn. A lot better.

Alex Smith has a noodle weak of an arm

DeezNutz 02-03-2013 04:20 PM

****ing stupidity to talk about Smith in any different terms than we talked about Cassel. For each, his upside is effective game manager, which isn't ****ing good enough.

Always good policy to acquire a 29-year-old QB who cannot and will not be effective enough to win a SB.

Shoot for the stars when it comes to overdrafting the **** out of a glorified 5-tech.

Settle for mediocrity when it comes to the QB position.

Chiefs will. Play good football. Together is powerful. Renew your season tix.

O.city 02-03-2013 04:24 PM

Some would rather take a guy drafted in the 7th round who's played about 3 games over a first round pick

Flynn will be 28 at the start of next season.

Acquiring him would be of equal stupidity of acquiring Smith. If forced to do either, though, I'd take the former because the cost would almost certainly be financial; I cannot imagine that Seattle would demand more than a token draft pick to get Flynn's contract off the books.

Smith, however, would be far more costly in terms of draft compensation.

Neither will win a SB; both options are ridiculously stupid--make no mistake of this.

Valiant 02-03-2013 04:56 PM

I have zero problems with those kind of takes, i'm as desperate and fed up as anyone here... what i'm saying is that i am willing to put my trust in this new regime to make whatever choice they make work.

If they sign Smith, i'll sit back and watch the meltdown, then play wait and see.

No one I know are expecting to go to the Super Bowl in a year. We who want to draft a QB #1 want the window of opportunity to go to the Super Bowl open up for 10 years. That will give us better odds to be successful long term and give us hope in the short term to get things turned around.
