AJ McCarron vs LSU
For those who want to see a possible prospect compete against a fantastic defense, watch this game.

He missed a touchdown on that deep ball. Meanwhile, Barkley hit one on an even deeper ball. On McCarron's the WR could have done a better job of running to the ball but still probably overthrown.
|
Nice open field tackle by Milliner.
|
isn't McCarron just 'a guy'?
|
Shawn Zobel @ShawnZobel_DHQ
Give me A.J. McCarron as the top QB in 2013 |
Zobel is worse than Bleacher Report, IMO.

Matt Barkley to the Chiefs with the first pick, and McCarron to the Eagles in the middle of the first round. That's just stupid beyond words. |

The guy is a ****ing reerun. |
McCarron with an overthrow of Cassel proportions. This guy is a first round pick?

Horrible! pass

Shawn Zobel will come back with a new mock draft this week with Zach Mettenberger going at #1 over all

What kind of a franchise QB cries? Shows a great deal of immaturity. Not a locker room leader of men.
Emotional guy, how can we expect him to keep his cool? /ChiefRoundup :whackit: |

Nice drive at the end, but I just don't ever see him turning into an NFL QB.

So after 12 hours of watching college football today I must agree there is no qb worth #1 overall. We are totally screwed and there is no relief in sight even if Egoli gets whacked and takes Romeo to Golden Corral.

Yeah I'm not getting why ChiefsandO's is getting flamed for his twitter postings. I don't recall him ever stating he believed them, just was posting them.

Players can develop further in the pros with the right coaching and talent. Matt Ryan has taken an enormous leap with Dirk Koetter's offense and putting pieces around him. Barkley can have a fine career. If Pioli is wacked, hope will be restored. |

Not any longer. |

Does this QB crop look good now? No, it doesn't. However, I'm not willing to pass on another QB because he "might" not pan out. I'm not wasting another year ****ing around with complete garbage at the position. It sucks we aren't this bad in 2011, but it is what it is. People saying we have no hope because the QB looks bad in a few games is absurd. |

It appears that you don't. But thanks for copying and pasting Twitter comments that appear long before you post them. Dumbass. |

I'd imagine by year three he'd be ready to put a team on his shoulders and lead. Time will tell. |

I'm beginning to think a top QB is a top QB. If a guy has the potential, he's worth drafting. Period.
Like milkman was saying earlier, it boils down to pocket presence and accuracy. And all three of this year's top QBs possess good amounts of both. They're all potential franchise QBs. I happen to think Geno Smith is the best. Just ****ing draft a guy. |

Anyway, tonight's game demonstrated two things about AJ McCarron:
1) I'm sold on his capability to be a franchise QB 2) He's going to need some polishing |
Barkley is Sanchez if he'd stayed in school like he should have. I'm not completely sold, but think he'd be worth the risk. Although I like Smith more. But it's time to do something, try something.

McCarron did the one thing the others have not yesterday. I liked what I saw. So many NFL games come down to the last two minutes and McCarron did it against the #1 secondary in college football yesterday.

2. He won. When it mattered most, he carried his team on his back and won. 3. Sanchez is garbage, but he is still better than any QB we currently have on our roster. |
McCarron will be a good late 1st to mid 2nd round pick. If we are morons and take an OL with our top 3 pick, I'd take AJ later
|
Quote:
If he sucks for 58 minutes against an NFL quality opponent, that last 2 minutes is just Matt Cassel garbage time. |
That was McCarron's first bad game of the season (and yeah, it was BAD). It's why in the other thread about him I said he was still a 3rd round guy despite playing like a superstar this season...I was worried that the carriage would turn into a pumpkin. It did last night.
He's still a guy with lots of NFL upside. We'll see if this is his only poor game of the season. |
I'd take him in the 3rd. After drafting a QB #1. I might find a QB worthy of the top pick in the 2nd, too. Hell, maybe the 4th.
|
McCarron will be a top 15 pick if he comes out this year. He will likely be top 5 if he comes out next year.

Against LSU, if you don't throw 2-3 INTs, you haven't had a terrible game. |

He will go in the first round. I wouldn't draft him there, but he'll go there. |

I'm not saying we should take McCarron #1 but, I am saying Geno doesn't do that kind of thing. He hasn't shown he has it in him. How many NFL games come down to the end? |

That is McCarron's ceiling. |
And the majority of plays in that winning drive came against a 3 man rush, prevent zone.
One good read does not a good QB make. |

How many successful NFL QB's were surrounded by 4 & 5 star talent in college?
