I just checked Craigs List and I can get a mobile home for 5500 bucks. You will fit right in!

Are you building a custom home or just want a spec house?

$160-200/foot for a new normal house out here.

You could build in that mini-house neighborhood I heard about on the news.

lewdog 09-15-2015 09:20 PM

Sure you could. A really small ****ing house. Why can't you just find something already built since you aren't building a custom home?

A small house on a slab.

Good luck finding a developer building a subdivision selling off lots and allowing builders to put 200 grand houses on it. Affordable subdivision and housing isnt really being built now and hasn't been for a long time.

Yes.

But don't do it.

If you're going to build one, do it right. Allow yourself a mountain of money for contingencies/things you want to change because you have to live with it for 30+ years. You will cuss it every day of your life if you are saddled with a tiny kitchen, shitty bathrooms, cheap finish, etc.

I built a house five years ago. If you are on a tight budget I wouldn't recommend it.

Designing a house would be fun, I think. Can I help you do it? I've taken a couple of architecture courses over the years.
