CBS NEWS: Hot Sauces Ranked By Heat

Hot sauces, ranked by heat:
http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/hot-...d_id=61806652/

The listicle goes from one to twenty nine, even though they are listed as 1-30 with number 30 missing. Here are a few of my favorites from the list that I have tried and enjoyed over the years-other than that last one. I have never tried the stuff but I want to cook with it at some point, before I'm so old that it will kill me. The article has pics to jog your memory. Click on it to see them.

    • 26. Taco Bell Fire Sauce
    • This is the hottest sauce served in packets at the popular taco chain. It has 500 SHU... nowhere near the top of the scale.

    • 24. Valentina Salsa Picante
    • Valentina Salsa is just starting to gain popularity in the United States, but it's the best-selling hot sauce in Mexico. It brings 900 SHU.

    • 19. Valentina Salas Picanto - Extra Hot
    • Valentina's spicier version delivers 2,100 SHU — more than double the heat of its original.

    • 18. Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Sauce
    • Sriracha creator David Tran said he set out to "make a rich man's sauce at a poor man's price."
    • The company has never advertised its products, but in 2010, Tran had to open a 650,000-square-foot facility to keep up with demand. Sriracha clocks in at 2,200 SHU.

    • 14. Tabasco Original Hot Sauce
    • The ubiquitous hot sauce has up to 5,000 SHU.

    • 8. Dave’s Ultimate Insanity Hot Sauce
    • Dave's Gourmet recommends you use this sauce "one drop at a time." It boasts 250,000 SHU.

    • 1. Blair’s 16 Million Reserve
    • The hottest hot sauce isn't really a sauce at all. It's packaged pure capsaicin crystals (the chemical compound that makes peppers hot), and is "not to be consumed or even opened without using extreme caution."
    • As the name suggests, it clocks in at 16,000,000 SHU.

I will say I use them for different situations. Any fast food that doesn't have some zing to it and I'll dump some Taco Bell sauce on there. I know that it won't actually add much heat but it will add a touch of flavor. For an actual plate of food I like the original Valentina. Slight heat (warmth) and decent flavor. If the food can really benefit from the heat I'll do take out and use the hotter version that I keep at home. I only somewhat recently started using the Sriracha and it's great, I use it as an alternative to the spicier Valentina when I want a different flavor. Tabasco is the old tried and true hot sauce for me. I would put it on just about any savory food item. It forms the last leg of the Valentino/Sriracha/Tabasco holy trinity. Those three sauces will cover any situation. Dave's Insanity is for fun. I love the habanero flavor and I love the game you have to play when you guess how much to use. Too little? You're missing out on flavor. Too much? Your head is on fire and it's not going out any time soon. And then one day I may get around to that special heat lover's crack in a bottle from Blair's.

Actually Taco Bell has a new sauce called "Diablo" in a black packet. It's fairly hot. For real.

I'll sample each, and then valipass will lick my ASS.

I'll pay some 40 year old slut he can take head from as payment.

I have a bottle of blairs 3am reserve somewhere in my pantry. It's no joke.

Donger 06-05-2017 08:59 AM

Frank's Buffalo is about as hot as I like it.

What's the point of the 16 million reserve if it's not supposed to be eaten?

Weird to me that Tabasco is hotter than Sriracha. Maybe it's the thick texture of Sriracha, but it just seems a LOT hotter to me than some of the others that it's rated below (Tapatio. Crystal).

I can put Tabasco or Tapatio on shit like it's water. Doesn't even seem very hot to me. Sriracha, though, can make stuff a little hotter than I like it. Once again, maybe it's because of the thickness of it, so it coats the mouth more than others.

Yep. Tapatio or Cholula on anything for me. Sriracha has the flavor and consistency I like on certain things such as eggs.

Agreed. Sriracha seems hotter than Tabasco to me as well.

Those two are about as hot I like stuff anymore.

Maybe you should focus on not being a loser instead of talking shit on the internet.
