Anyone have the ratchet and clank hd collection? I like collecting these games more so then the new games to be honest, brings me back to better days when I had the PS2. So far I have MGS collection, JAC, Splinter Cell, Zone of the enders, GOW, Doom 3 BFG edition ( Game freaks me out especially at night, even broad daylight )...oh and btw, I am so pumped for FarCry 3 that it deserves it's own thread honestly this game looks to be the real deal.

I don't think it's the platforming sections that piss me off, more so the puzzles.

Rugby Thompson 11-21-2012 08:10 AM

Anyone ever remember playing a series called Timesplitters, they made like 3 games, it was the creators of GoldenEye that developed it. They need to make a collection for that, one of my favorite games of all time..and does anyone have Saints Row 2 or 3 or have played it? Game is fun as hell and better then GTA in my opinion ( not story wise but gameplay wise and car customization wise )

Oh no. That's more of a puzzle/fight. That's MILD by comparison.

There's sections with long, spinning beams, covered with blades. If you stand still, you fall off and have to start over. If you get hit with a blade, you fall off and have to start over. If you get hit by one of the spellcasters on the platform ahead of you that you can't see, you fall off and have to start over. If you jump slightly wrong because the angles are ****ed up and you can't rotate the camera, you fall off and have to start over.

Why you no handle platformers?

The puzzles were easy for me. Never spent more than 5 minutes on any of them that I can think of.

Now, the vertical, spinning pillars covered with blades? I spent almost as much time beating that section as I did the ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME COMBINED.

I thought 2 was the best, I haven't touched 3 yet though, heard it's very short.

Honestly, it's hard for me to separate them, having played them all in order. They were all great. And they were all fairly short.

lol.. well there have been some fantastic platformers this generation - especially in the last few years. Super Meat Boy and Rayman Origins were both A+++

And from the above video, you'd get a overwhelming sense of accomplishment after beating a level like that... especially beating that level on your last life :)

My knuckles wouldn't survive a game like that. Accomplishments are the least of my worries when platforming.

So far, I'm getting FIFA 13 and Gran Turismo 5. Madden is out, as is NCAA 13.

May I ask where you go this deal? I'm in the mkt too.

Love my ps3 better than xbox. But i dont play online really either. That said i do own an xbox360 and hardly played it (free from a friend)

Donger 11-22-2012 02:07 PM

Oh good. I was going to ask this question.

My son (11) wants an Xbox 360 for Christmas. I see that there is are 4GB and 250GB models, and I've heard that the 4GB is basically worthless if plays online at all. Is that true?

Absolutely true.

kcxiv 11-22-2012 06:14 PM

again, if you have an old laptop somewhere, pull out the hard drive and learn how to flash it and you can fix the hard drive problem. It saved me 100 bucks by doing that. Now i have an original 4gb xbox with a 320 gig hard drive in there.

Are you talking about the new slim units or the old white units?

mnchiefsguy 11-22-2012 11:01 PM

Sam's Club has a 250 gb PS3, along with an extra controller, with two games (Uncharted, InFamous?) for $248. Strongly considering picking one of those up, although I know nothing about the games in question.

slims! can be done on both i believe, just a little more of a pain in the ass.

I just realized i said original. I should have said basic cheap 4gb xbox's.

My "original" xbox disc drive dont work. Its strickly a media center now.

Those are two of the games I'd love to play if I had a PS3. Can't vouch for how good they are though.

Silock 11-30-2012 02:26 PM

I hope God of War picks up. I played it for a couple of hours today, and it's just kinda . . . boring. Square, square, square, square, square, triangle, L2, repeat.

All the Uncharted games are excellent and I love the Infamous games as well. Infamous 2 is a great time waster with excellent graphics and a good story. You don't have to play the first one but I recommend doing so.

Sure-Oz 12-01-2012 02:06 AM

My ps3 had corrupt data and had to format. Loaned it to a buddy and got it back. Im sure he did nothing wrong, just odd as ****. Had to reboot in safe mode but its back to default shit. I dont think ive ever been so pissed. Had a ps3 for several years no issues, but its working atleast. Lost all my saves

I got a few memory sticks 2 weeks ago but procrastinated. Paid for it.

Gotta play all the walking deads and start over on mass effect 2 now. Not so pissed about uncharted 1-3 cuz ive beaten them a few times. So dumb of me.

There's no right or wrong answer.

I don't mind shelling out $10/month to play online.

I also have a DVD player with the 360 which works fine. Blu-Ray does nothing for me.

Really I love blu-ray. I like the 360 and the PS3 both and own them both. If I had to choose which one was better I guess I'd have to pick PS3 though. More good exclusives (to me anyway) and I really do enjoy the blu-ray player. Like I said though...I like them both.

Started playing Uncharted a bit. It has been a long time since I have done any serious gaming, so I have died quite a bit. Game is really fun though, like a modern Indiana Jones. I will probably pick up Uncharted 3 once I finish the first two.

The blu-ray player on the PS3 is fantastic. And now that I have found software that streams my video files from my pc, those look great as well. I am very pleased with that aspect of it.

Get the Mass effect series on PC, much better graphics and maybe cheap on steam as well.

The boss fights aren't like that at all. There's some tactical sense to it.

GOW always seemed to canned for me, not much choice on what you can do. Of course I'm a PC gamer first and once you've played the Elder scrolls series everything else seems way to linear.

I wish I could get into Skyrim. My brother had it on PC and I got to mess around with it a little. Created a character and played for an hour or so. The game looked just incredible. The scenery and landscapes were breathtaking. Unfortunately, as far as the gameplay goes, it isn't really my cup of tea. It seems really in depth, which is a great thing, but I just don't have a lot of time for it, which seems like it's a requirement to really get the most out of the game.

Yeah, it's a HUGE time sink. I've probably spent over 100 hours already and I've just scratched the surface.

Pants 12-03-2012 10:04 PM

I put like 90 hours into Skyrim, I was maybe done with 30-40% of the bigger chain quests and my characters was pretty much maxed out and there was no more progression left. Bethesda always ****ing does this, but maybe it's just what happens when you make a massive game. If Skyrim had Diablo 2's loot system... HOLY SHIT!

I've restarted probably 20 times. ****ing OCD.
