Poulter clutch.

kstater 09-20-2008 05:02 PM

I think these two teams had something like 16 or 18 birdies.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-20-2008 05:03 PM

Come on, Hunter.

kstater 09-20-2008 05:04 PM

Hunter is money.

kstater 09-20-2008 05:05 PM

18 will be fun to watch tomorrow.

kstater 09-20-2008 05:13 PM

Europe can get within 1 with this one.

kstater 09-20-2008 05:15 PM

USA 9-7 going into Sunday. Need 5.5 points tomorrow to win it.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-20-2008 05:24 PM

Great last 30 minutes. Should be a good finish tomorrow. It's hard not to like a guy like Poulter. I'd say the US has an advantage, but it's not more than 60/40 going into tomorrow.

Kim dominating Sergio. US leading 4 matches, Europe leading 1, 4 tied.

kstater 09-21-2008 12:40 PM

Boo Weekley holes out for Eagle.

USA up in 6 matches, Europe up in 3, 3 tied.

kstater 09-21-2008 01:09 PM

Kim takes down Sergio. 5&4

Only need 4.5 more points to take it.

kstater 09-21-2008 02:04 PM

Mahan with the LONG, breaking birdie putt that goes in. To go 1 up with 1 to play.

kstater 09-21-2008 03:05 PM

JB Holmes knocks down the flag on 17. Fixing to win the match.

kstater 09-21-2008 03:08 PM

Is there a reason behind this statement if so what??? Or is this just an observation of the Ryder cup?

I played Saturday (second time in the past week), man the weather has been awesome. It was pretty wet though from the ground thawing. Played okay, had the look ups a couple of times, which is pretty normal at the first of the year for me. Bombed the driver for the most part, which has made me wonder if I want to switch drivers this year, or keep the Cobra.

I have been wanting to get the new Titleist 909, but can't decide between the 909D2, D3, or the Comp.

I have hit the Cobra good for the last year (LD F, Grafalloy Blue XS), but hate how it sets up at address. Can't stand the Draw bias. Have hit Titleist drivers for a long time, hard to get away from that look.

Still loving my Scotty Cameron though.

Used the Cleavland CG14 Zip Groove wedges, and they were nice, but won't be giving up on titleist Vokey spin milled wedges.

That's what happened to me today, or I would have played. God I felt like a bag full of smashed assholes today. :doh!:

I played last Saturday for the first time this year. Started off Birdie - Par, which for me to start that way after several months of being away from golf was terrific.

This is going to be the year I turn the corner a bit. I'm going to make sure it happens. Just being a little bit more consistent and finally getting the distance down on my short irons - I'm usually either a little long or a little short.

I get off sometimes on my short shots and chips when I start thinking to mechanical. Just got to trust yourself and feel it.

Well, just broke down and bought a new set of Mizuno MX-19 4-GW. Got them off ebay for 182.50 + s/h. Don't know if I will switch from mt Callaway Fusions. Good looking club.

Got it for $200.

Yeah. It's a really good club, though. I think that we've finally reached a technological saturation point with drivers, given the USGA limits on volume and COR as well as movable weights.

I have a G2 with a V2 shaft in it, and i can't really imagine upgrading that for a while.

I was due for an upgrade. Was still using my Si3 up til now.

My brother-in-law had a set of MP-30s. A little bit more of a player's club than the one above, but it's pretty hard to go wrong with Mizuno irons even though I'm a Ping guy.

Yeah I have had several blades, I really can't see myself going back to blades, these new clubs are just so easy to hit, and mishits still get up there, and I can still work the ball. Hell even the pros have started to go away from blades. Though I just about got the MP-60's.

Oh, I'm the last person to say I'm going to beat the game. When I'm talking about turning the corner, I just mean getting over the damn hump I've been struggling with for the past 3 years.

At my previous course, I was a member there for 4-5 years. Each year I progressively got better....started out shooting 110+ (1st year I really played golf consistently) and worked my way down to consistently shooting low to mid 80's.

Last year, I moved to a new private course. It's not as forgiving and I was back shooting high 40's/low 50's on 9. I had to learn to play a course that was tighter and tougher.

Through it all, the one thing I've struggled with is distance on my short game, 50-150 yards in. I can typically put it on, but I never felt like I had much control over the distance. I'm setting myself a goal that this year, I'm going to learn to control my distance. I figure if I'm able to control my distance better, I'll shave 5-10 strokes a round just on shorter putts.

OnTheWarpath15 02-18-2009 05:20 PM

Finally decided to bite the bullet and get properly fitted for irons and a driver.

Sure enough, I've been playing Ping I3 OS black dots, and was fitted into green dots - 2.25* upright. No ****ing wonder I keep leaking the ball right...

Hit a TON of drivers on the launch monitor, and without question the best for my swing?

The used $50 Ping G2 with a Aldila NV-S shaft. Saved me a few bucks.

Going to take a few days to sleep on it, but I think I'm going to order a new set of Ping G5 irons with the CS Lite stiff shafts and Cushin inserts. They just feel like a huge upgrade to my I3's, or I'd just have what I have bent to specs.

I can't wait to get out and play.

Mr. Plow 02-18-2009 07:37 PM

I can't remember the last time I actually paid out of pocket for an upgrade.

I've always found someone on Ebay or Craigslist to give me way more than the club is worth, and I always re-invest in used.

In this case, I sold my old Titleist driver for $80, and bought the G2 for $50.

I have a sale pending on my I3's for $250.

I'm getting the G5's for $380.

So, technically, I'm out $100. But it would have cost me $100 to regrip my I3's and have them bent to 2.5*, so I can justify it. Still no more out of pocket than what I would have spent to prepare for the season.

Ebay is your friend, if you know what you're looking for.

Sounds like you got hooked up. Best thing is, you got fitted and upgraded for next to nothing. I am 2* upright, it amazes me that people spend the amount of money that they do, but never get fitted. It defiantly can make a HUGE improvement in your game.

Regriping, if you ever decide to do it, is a breeze. I can walk you through it, if you ever decide to do something. I am always regriping something it seems.

Update on the MX-19 Irons: Would be a great game improvement iron, to big of a head and cavity for my liking, but I hit them and they feel great. Guess I will play them for a bit and see, I already have them sold if I decide to go another direction.

KC_Connection 02-22-2009 12:44 AM

All lies I guess:

Quote:

8. Phil Mickelson

Last August at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol, in New Jersey, a reporter turned to a golfer on the tour and said of Phil Mickelson, “Man, the fans here love Phil.” The golfer replied, “They don’t know him the way we do.” It blew our minds a little when we heard this, since Mickelson ranks among the most admired golfers in America. But today the same reporter makes his case bluntly: “Phil Mickelson literally has no friends out there. He annoys everybody.”

Mickelson has earned many nicknames on the Tour, but our favorite is FIGJAM (****, I’m good—just ask me). “There are a bunch of pros who think he and his whole smiley, happy face are a fraud,” another reporter says. “They think he’s preening and insincere.” Mickelson has aggressively pursued a family-man image that is crucial to his success as an endorser. In 1999, when he nearly won the U.S. Open, Mickelson wore a beeper onto the fairway to alert him when his wife went into labor. If the beeper went off during the final round, he announced, he would simply walk off the course. Some of Mickelson’s peers, smelling a PR stunt, badly wanted to call his bluff. “Everybody’s saying, ‘Oh God, I want that beeper to go off,’ ” recalls one writer. (It didn’t.)

In 2003, Mickelson violated multiple taboos when he told a reporter that Tiger Woods was playing with “inferior equipment” and that he envied Mickelson’s longer drives from the tee. Woods was infuriated. “You just don’t say shit like that in golf,” says a reporter. (To be fair, another reporter says, “Phil was right.”)

Shortly before the 2004 Ryder Cup, though, Mickelson abruptly switched from Titleist to Callaway equipment. He left himself little time to get used to the new balls and clubs. “It wasn’t in the best interest of the team,” says a reporter. “The only thing that it was in the best interest of was his financial gain.” The contract paid a reported $7 million to $10 million annually. “What it did was set up a bull’s-eye on him if he played poorly,” says a different reporter. “Which he did.”

Most recently, Mickelson blew off the 2005 Tour Championship, though the PGA was in the midst of negotiating its new TV contract. One reporter says, “The Tour was trying to come up with a plan that would make the networks happy, so it wouldn’t have to give back a lot of money, and here’s the number three player in the world skipping the premier season-ending event. Other players said, ‘How about helping the rest of us who aren’t as rich?’ ” Adds another reporter: “It’s like not showing up for somebody’s wedding.”

Down to one.

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-22-2009 03:29 PM

Mickelson's problem is that he can never play more than 6 consecutive holes of good golf. His swing is too long, too steep, he's too far across the line, and his leg action is too inconsistent. In order for him to get rid of the sprays even with his improved swing he'd have to hit as many balls as Vijay Singh.

The good thing for him is that he has a slew of birdie holes on the back, and he plays the back 9 better than the front on this course.

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-22-2009 04:05 PM

You should play the first three holes of the back 9 at 2 under, and Mickelson just played it 1 over. Now he trails by one.

kstater 02-22-2009 04:05 PM
