Friday's telecast will be the 11th consecutive KU tournament game that I've called. I am on a first name basis with the mascot. I'm thinking about joining the Jayhawk Club to receive special offers on all KU gear, as well as preferred parking to games.

He's definitely still learning, but Memphis fans knew that was the case when he was hired. Today's game, when Memphis was purposeful about getting the ball inside to Tarik Black, SM had no answer. Toward the end of the first and second halves, Memphis built leads because of it. Where was it the rest of the game? Frustrating.

Team also makes some bone-headed plays, and not sure if that's coaching or players who just don't handle decision making very well. Adonis Thomas throwing the ball in with 3 seconds to go; you have 3 timeouts. Anyone who has responsibility to inbounds the ball should know this. Second, don't throw into traffic given you have those timeouts. Memphis similarly gave up a lead in the last minute of their conference tourney championship game. All that said, I'm just glad they won a tournament game.

Believe it or not, coaches can call TOs when their teams possess the ball or during dead balls.

The average NCAA watcher probably doesn't even know Kansas lost to Oklahoma State, or doesn't care enough to recall it while watching them play Oregon a month later. The only thing that makes Kansas look weak is Kansas losing.

Ah, I was thinking about OSU's loss, not if all B12 teams lost in the first round. I don't think the OSU loss is a big deal at all, granted they looked like shit... I thought OSU was overrated and some of the experts thought Oregon was the most under-seeded team in the tournament (comparable to Wichita State as far as top 25 wins, top 50 wins, SoS, sagarin, kenpom...).

If Kansas is the only B12 team that wins this weekend though, I'm sure it'll raise some eyebrows... granted, only 3 teams are favorites in this round. I don't think it diminishes Kansas' conference streak... everyone knew all year it was going to be a down year for the B12, and if not for a really shitty week (or had they showed up in Waco), they would have won it outright.

He came back in the game, played awful though. I'm not sure they get past VCU and I would like to put a beatdown on them as well.

Yeah, I agree. I also think VCU is a better matchup for KU anyways, and revenge would be awesome.

Mizzou looking like a big pile of suck early on.

I picked Cal to win but their free throw shooting was horrific down the stretch. Never should've been that close.

I think they will be a nightmare matchup for KU should we end up playing them. This Jayhawk team does not handle the press well and I'd expect a ton of turnovers as VCU will press all game long. If we have an off shooting night at the same time I don't like our chances.

That's a good point. Last time we faced them it was a quick turnaround which obviously was not ideal.

I do. If we didn't have it, you'd miss half of the game you wanted to watch because of all the look-ins. I didn't mind it when KU wasn't playing, but when the hawks are on, I want to watch them play, not get interrupted 15 times for games I don't care about.

I really like how the channel icon flashes when the game is back from commercial.... it makes the 400 million trillion commercials slightly more tolerable, so I don't have to keep PiP open while waiting for the game to come back. #firstworldproblems

Heh, I get your point about pressing, but can't help to think if KU had been up 35 early in the 2nd and had simply held the lead, there would be posts about KU falling asleep, etc. IMO, it's nice to see a team play with energy for 40 minutes and have that killer instinct people talk about. Interested to see what they do against Michigan.
