How many cancer sticks have you smoked in your lifetime?

This is a spinoff of a thread highjack....

Here is a calculator that lets you figure how many cigarettes you've smoked in your lifetime.

For those of us who either smoke or have smoked, it is pretty mind-boggling how many coffin nails we've inhaled.

Me, I quit about 16 and a half years ago. Still, I smoked about 118706 cigarettes, or about 5935 packs of cigarettes. The number is probably a bit higher, but still, that is a lot of cigarettes if you think about it.

Another way of looking at it, if you place the cigarettes end to end (assuming king sized, once again, not always the case), I would of smoked a cigarette that was over 5 1/6 miles long.

DaFace 04-22-2013 08:39 PM

Probably about 10. That was a weird phase.

kcxiv 04-22-2013 08:40 PM

Like 50 tops.

Hammock Parties 04-22-2013 08:40 PM

Two drags. Never again.

hometeam 04-22-2013 08:40 PM

Wow.. I only smoked for about 5 years, and was light/medium and still sucked down over 20 thousand.

Demonpenz 04-22-2013 08:40 PM

lots of cancer dicks...some libra's as well

Setsuna 04-22-2013 08:41 PM

Where's the poll? And there needs to be a zero option or else I can't vote.

Al Bundy 04-22-2013 08:42 PM

HoneyBadger 04-22-2013 08:42 PM

I'd say, including cigars, about 30. I hate the taste it leaves in my mouth.

Oh, if we're counting cigars, my number's way too low. Probably around 100 if that's the way we're counting.

tredadda 04-22-2013 08:46 PM

More than 1 and less than 1,000,000. Never kept count.

cdcox 04-22-2013 08:49 PM

Maybe 50 cigarettes and 25 cigars lifetime. I don't get any enjoyment out of cigarettes at all. I like cigars, but not the next-day sensation of the Polish army making camp in my mouth. So I haven't touched either in more than 10 years.

:hmmm: I think it might be time to quit.

notorious 04-22-2013 08:55 PM

I smoke a cigarette while drinking beer when I was 19.

It multiplied my hangover by 11tybillion. Never again.

Sfeihc 04-22-2013 08:56 PM

A pack a day for 15 years or 109,575 cigs or 5,479 packs. I stopped 5 years and almost 2 months ago. I could buy a well equipped compact car(Cruze, Focus, Civic, Jetta etc.) for that money.

dilligaf 04-22-2013 09:26 PM

Approximately 165,000. I quit 16 yrs ago. Not soon enough.

J Diddy 04-22-2013 09:33 PM

Showed up about 146,000.

Damn.

TribalElder 04-22-2013 09:34 PM

109575 cigs 5479 packs

But that number could be low due to "heavy days" during my smoking days.

Shit, what a waste of money and life

Maybe 10 cigarettes and 8-10 cigars. I bought a Cuban on our honeymoon seven years ago and still haven't smoked it.

Pegged my mom as a pack-a-day smoker for about 38 years: 277,950.

teedubya 04-22-2013 11:31 PM

I started smoking cigarettes in the Army... smoked 10-15 cigs a day for about 5 years... so about 22,000 cigs. I quit in 1997, when I realized it was a ****ing stupid, idiotic ****ing gross ass, wasteful habit.

Phobia 04-23-2013 12:21 AM

I think I've probably smoked 30 Dunhill cigarettes in my life but they're exactly like cigars. I've bought two packs which I then shared and I split a pack my bro bought long ago. I'm probably not who the thread was targeting.

mdchiefsfan 04-23-2013 03:26 AM

47,483 cigarettes or 2374 packs smoked in 13 years. I am 28 now. I was at a pack a day before quitting but I figured the first couple of years, when I was smoking at 15, I wasn't smoking nearly a half a pack. That's a rough estimate. Glad to be off them before 30 though.

Don't need the calculator to say that it's been way too many. Been a year and a half without one, which is nice.

Fire Me Boy! 04-23-2013 05:42 AM

Hard for me to estimate. I smoked off and on for a few years... I've always been one of those guys that could stop at will and never really had a problem doing it. Never stopped because I wanted to "quit" but because I was tired of it for the time being. So throughout college and some after, I'd smoke moderately for anywhere from 3 to 6 months, then quit for another 3 to 6 months until I wanted to smoke again. About 10 years ago, I all but quit to help my wife quit. Only smoked once in a blue moon. About 5 years ago I started having serious issues with allergies and asthma and stopped altogether.

Dunhills are very nice. I bought a bunch of those, but my particular poison throughout college was Djarum Unfiltered cloves. They don't even import them into the U.S. anymore, but damn they were good! And cigars. I smoked a bunch of cigars.

Deberg_1990 04-23-2013 06:23 AM

1 maybe? Took a puff once or twice...but thats about it. Never cared much for the smell that sticks in your clothes, furniture, house, car, etc......

Was never a pack a day smoker when I smoked, it was more like 2-3 packs a week. It was for about four years so I came up with 11688.

Chief Roundup 04-23-2013 07:40 AM

252,023 Cigarettes, or roughly 12,601 packs

mikeyis4dcats. 04-23-2013 07:41 AM

It blows my mind people are so judgmental. Probably because their mother didn't breast feed them. Isn't formula basically the same as breast milk? That's just pathetic.

seclark 04-23-2013 07:46 AM

maybe around 10 when I was a kid.
probably smoke a couple cigars a year on the river.

rockymtnchief 04-23-2013 07:48 AM

Pack a week x 1.5 years...approx 1560. I had weeks I smoked less and then days with Mr Flopnuts that I smoked a pack every 5 minutes. He's a bad influence. :D

If it takes 15 minutes, you aren't smoking it. My mom, who quit over 30 years ago and used to be a 3 pack/day smoker, told me she used to smoke 3 cigarettes in between classes in college- the classes she was referring to were 5 minutes apart.

tooge 04-23-2013 08:17 AM

no cigarettes. Probably about 25 cigars in my life.

HemiEd 04-23-2013 08:18 AM

I was a light half pack a day smoker, so I figure about 183,000.

DeepPurple 04-23-2013 08:22 AM

621,000 cigarettes. I was a chain smoker and also an air traffic controller, 2/3's of us smoked in that job back in the 70's. I smoked 2-1/2 packs from 1971 until 2006 minus twice I quit for six months each, so I calculated 34 years. I enjoyed it, I never wanted to quit. I was given a prescription for a drug called "Chantax", it has no nicotine. I quit after 5 days, now that I've quit, I wish I had never started.

suds79 04-23-2013 08:26 AM

3-4.

Tried them in high school.

Thought it wasn't anything special so might as well stop before I get started.

In 83 probably about .75-.80 a pack depending on what state you lived in and where you bought them. Could probably buy a carton for about the same price of a pack now.

Pretty hard to estimate mine accurately in that I have quit for over a year twice and 5 years once and a number of shorter periods being on the patch, or e-cig but 150,000-250,000 more or less is pretty close. If I had invested all the money I have spent of Smokes, booze and so forth I could retire now and live out my days not as a rich man but middleclass.

Deberg_1990 04-23-2013 09:15 AM

What im wondering is, how are tobacco companies going to stay in business? Im assuming there are alot fewer people smoking now than there were 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago........

Oh wait, dont they charge like $6 a pack now? Thats how....
