Pretty much this.

A friend of mine recently got hired at Target and she was told, with about 40 other overnight coworkers, that "pretty much everyone in the room would be scheduled to work on Thanksgiving". Also, you think if they open to the public at 9 PM the employees will get there at 8:45? Some of you guys are so naive to the way things work. A large portion of them will be scheduled to come in several hours before, effectively ruining their holiday.

With that said, I understand the store needs to make money to pay you and if you took the job you pretty much have to nut up or shut up. I've quit a few jobs over scheduling issues (I was once schedule to work Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Years Eve, AND New Years day, ALL IN ONE SEASON- **** that shit!) so there's always that option. The thing is, as someone mentioned earlier, where does it stop? This is obviously an attempt by both Wal-Mart and Target to one-up each other. You just have to wonder where it will stop..

Then don't ****ing work retail.

The cougars go to Target instead of Wal-Mart.

Most retail locations say you can't take time off Black Friday weekend and several days in December. It's mandatory.

ya, doesn't matter what the excuse is. You call in on black friday = fired. Your kid just died? fired. You have a 105 degree temp? fired. You got into a car wreck and broke 20 bones? fired.

people just do not matter to these corps, they are just their slaves.

The Wal-Mart here is closer. I go the extra distance to have nice scenery while I'm shopping.

Just another example of the bullshit entitlement issues in our society.

Some mexican will be glad to work your hours on Black Thursday Night.

Smart man.

I avoid Wal Mart at all costs.

Unless I'm depressed and needing a self esteem boost.

I don't hear any health care workers complaining about working holidays.

Everyone I know that works in those hospitals WANT to work those holidays... it is double time. They usually have a list of people wanting to work.

It's a human right to have thanksgiving night off?

Should everyone everywhere have thanksgiving night off?

Basically all businesses should shut down? Is that it?

This is just about as bad as Roy thinking not having racial slurs on Chiefs Planet is against the first amendment.
