ROFL I actually thought that as I wrote that out. I don't mind paying for the ford - but is it what I described in your opinion? When I go online to read opinions it's too fan boyish - I know the experts on CP know trucks and probably have some strong opinions on which ones are the way to go

I only drove Chevy's until my current truck. It's an F150 platinum and by far the best truck I've owned. My two before were an Avalanche and a Z71.

I'm interested in buying a new truck, mostly because I've had this one for a while and I'm bored. I've seriously looked at the Tundra, Z71, and F150. I'll probably get an F150, but the Z71 has made major strides over the last 6 years.

I don't use the towing capacity much, I use the bead 5-6 times a year. I love the Ford because of the amenities. The stereo is great, the back up camera is the best on the market, it is extremely comfortable for anyone who gets in no matter where they sit. It rides very quiet and smooth.

I bought a 2014 Tundra Crew Max brand new and was dissatisfied with the tech (worked awful with Bluetooth phones) and literally had zero storage space in the cab. When I towed my boat I was getting single digit mpg - other than that an amazing vehicle. Sold it when I had a career change and came out even. Now that I'm stabilized I want to get back into a truck - just struggling on what direction to go. The Ford Platinum seems like a good choice - any word on changes for 2016 models? Is this the best truck on the market now?

I settled on a H/C/I T/A. Going to drive up to Iowa tomorrow and pick it up.

Should make somewhere in the low to mid 4s WHP, has a few bruises like any old car but that's part of the car guy thing~ Will get her fixed up and perfect!

Also, why do people buy Fords and never ask me for help? I sell Fords!~ PM ME! BEST PRICE ETC ETC ETC

The Platinum has been the best truck on the market since '09. The '15 truck was built lighter and had a slightly smaller engine. The '16 is still lighter, but the engine is supposed to be stronger than the '15.

Chevy/GMC is starting to catch up, but they aren't there yet in the luxury area.

Sounds like the wrong time to buy a 2015 - this is the rub with truck buying right now - everything is in a transition but there's not a real strong value proposition. Heck might be best to lease for the time being, and I've never considered that road

2015 Ford is the best truck on the market, The truck is lighter because it is aluminum construction, and improved in every single way. Stronger frame, safer than ever, better p/w ratio, better ride, more room, better technology, more engine choices including a 2.7L turbo v6 that gets better fuel mileage than competitors and can still tow 8500 pounds. Not to mention the staple 5.0 and the big horse/tq twin turbo v6. On and on and on.

The platinum trucks I believe are standard with the 3.5l twin turbo making more hp and tq at a lower RPM than the v8 motor.

Other manufacturers will be several years behind the aluminum switch, but the trucks they make are semi-competitive.

I have seen NO specs on a 2016, but seeing as they just switched over the factory during the winter to aluminum, for the first year run on this truck, not much will change, 16s wont hit for a while yet, since the 15s where late arrivals and have only been out a few months. You are at least 6-8 months out on those hitting showrooms.

PM me and I will help you in any way I can.

Talked to my Ford rep about it a week or two ago. He didn't have any specific info that isnt out in the press releases, but he did mention the production was going to be pretty limited, and when I inquired about price and told him my guess was 40 grand, he told me yea that's probably about right.

I think you've talked me into a new one. I'm going to go tuxedo black with the 3.7.

Buehler445 05-17-2015 09:15 AM

Just be aware if you buy am aluminum Ford it is going to cost an arm and a leg if you incur body damage. Out here, if you buy one and smoke a deer you have to get it to Wichita (5hours) to get it fixed. Probably not as big of a deal for you KC guys but it is for me. I haven't ever liked Ford, but I'm liking Chevy less and less all the time and I think ford is getting better.

Also it's worth noting that dudes around here that have 14 or newer Chevys say they suck because the back doors don't seal well and the dirt from county roads (these are all dudes in the ag industry) is just a disaster.

There are getting to be a lot more smaller diesel options and turboed gas options out there that intrigue me.

All that being said, I bought a 2010 GMC With 19,000 miles on it this winter and couldn't be happier. I didn't want to drop the cash on a depreciable asset that I'm pretty hard on but it is a good pickup.

JMO on the pickups.
