Olivier Vernon just got a CRAZY DEAL!

5 year, 85million.

Von Miller might get 125m

jonzie04 03-09-2016 04:04 PM

Wow, thats insane for a guy with 29* sacks in his career. Same amount as Houston coming off a 22 sack season. Whats the Gtd $?

53m

pugsnotdrugs19 03-09-2016 04:06 PM

He got 52.5 guarenteed, which I believe is the same as Houston but a year less of a deal. 7.5 sacks got this guy paid higher than Houston and Watt.

jonzie04 03-09-2016 04:07 PM

Good lord.

notorious 03-09-2016 04:11 PM

Holy ****ing shit.

Has the entire NFL gone insane?

mcaj22 03-09-2016 04:12 PM

The Giants have almost 200 million in contract total in 3 FA signings. LOL

Jenkins, Harrison and now Vernon.

Amnorix 03-09-2016 04:26 PM

As has probably been mentioned elsewhere on CP, NFL teams had some ridiculous amount of cap space at the start of free agency this year. Half a billion or whatever.

Von Miller should be looking at well north of Suh money at this point. The Broncos may have to just franchise tag him for a year or two or else break the bank for him.

Hydrae 03-09-2016 04:30 PM

Wow, some of these teams are going to regret some of the contracts in a couple of years. Crazy money being thrown around in many places. Thankfully not in KC though!

Vernon and Sean Smith share the same agent I think.

The Giants offense was ranked #6 in scoring in the regular season last season.

The Giants defense was ranked dead last in just about every category on defense. In addition, the Giants defense lost five games in the regular with minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

The Giants took care of four spots and there is more to come on defense.

Olivier Vernon was ranked #1 in quarterback pressure last season. Did they overpay? Maybe - However, New York has the highest state tax in the country and it is way cheaper to live in Jacksonville than New York. The Giants paid up.

Damon Harrison is a huge loss for the Jets. He is so good up the middle. According to New York Jets beat writer for the New York Post Brian Costello, more than one opposing coach told him that Harrison was the Jets DL that caused most problems. He is a premier run stuffer, and he is the player I am most excited about having on the team.

Janoris Jenkins was the best on the market not named Prince Amukamara - Prince could not stay on the field.

The front seven got a whole lot better. Moreover, they have the #10 spot in the draft. I hope that the Giants use the pick on a DE or LB.

On a side note: Olivier Vernon and Sean Smith have the same agent.

Makes the Justin Houston contract look great :)

Will be cut

bevischief 03-10-2016 11:13 AM

Or in 5-years he will hit the open market at age 30.

The Giants have close to $30 million in cap space left.
