ABC has canceled two freshman series, "666 Park Avenue" and "Last Resort."

"Last Resort," the military-political thriller starring Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman, was praised by critics as one of the best new fall dramas but failed to attract a large audience in its competitive 8 p.m. time slot on Thursday nights.

It's tough news for co-showrunner Shawn Ryan ("The Shield), whose previous two shows, the favorably reviewed "Terriers" (FX) and "Chicago Code" (FOX), were both canceled after their first 13-episode seasons.

"News is true," Ryan tweeted today (Nov. 16). "No Back 9 for #LastResort. We will film and air all 13 episodes. We're going to give you no-holds barred kick-a** ending."

The supernatural drama "666 Park Avenue" also floundered in its 10 p.m. Sunday time slot, and its Brooklyn set was heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

ABC confirms to Zap2it that both "666" and "Last Resort" will finish out their current 13-episode orders.

Are you sad these shows didn't receive a full-season order?

Sucks about Last Resort, but it sounds like it will get a complete story in. Probably make it stronger overall.....that's a hard premise to keep up over several seasons.

666 started good but has almost lost me anyways... guess I don't need to follow that one anymore..

Maybe I'm spoiled by cable, but Last Resort had laughable acting. I'm not sure how anyone can watch anything that's supposed to be even semi serious on network tv.

Andre Braugher is solid as always...but yea, some of it was kinda corny.

Love Last Resort but this is probably really good news because I had no idea how they were going to keep that story running for multiple seasons. A 13 episode run with a kick ass ending would be perfect for it.

666 has been boring the last few weeks.

The first 2 episodes of Last Resort were pretty good, then it got old quick.

I agree. It really lost its burst. I couldn't even watch the episode about the chemical attack.

The wife and I made it through the first episode... and even though we DVR'd the next couple of weeks, we never got around to watching them, and just deleted them to make space.
