No I am. When I see things about "reality" games I think of all those anime that have people trapped in virtual reality worlds trying to get out. Unless reality means SIMS type stuff.

Reread it, the "reality" game is just a viral marketing deal on their website trying to get people interested. Now the game sounds like it will be a big world of people, but I think it will still be a FPS. We will find out sunday. Im pretty excite

Well honestly I didn't really read anything. I suppose I'll read it....

I still have a mid-90s Mac that I occasionally boot up to load the floppies of "Marathon". 20 years later and with about as much computing power and memory as a pocket calculator, that game still has atmosphere, especially late at night in the dark with stereo headphones on.

This is a PC-emulator version, which apparently starts you off in a rock-walled area. This makes absolutely no sense in terms of the game's narrative; it's a nod to their first game, before "Marathon", called "Pathways Into Darkness" (a Mac game where you roamed a temple with a knife IIRC).

I don't. PC players will always have the advantage. There's really no good way to level the playing field.

It was developed for the Mac and when Microsoft sniffed it out they purchased them and used it as the main X-Box launch title...

Observations so far is that this game is much better when playing as a team rather than individually. I think the biggest issue we had tonight was the lack of any real map. The main way of moving around in this game is opening up your little "ghost" and following the white dot on your HUD that disappears every 10 seconds. I hope they change that so you have permanent markers until you get to your destination rather than having to open your ghost all the time just to refresh it.

It will take some getting used to on the whole upgrading and loadouts for me as that is not something I am used to doing. Right now I just look for the item in my inventory that provides the highest number and load it up.

We absolutely need to set up some Chiefsplanet Fireteams for this game though. Playing in groups on weekends would be great.

Oh, forgot to mention, the maps are friggin HUGE!!!!!

Not sure if this will get any use or not but I created a Chiefsplanet group on the Bungie.net website. Just link your xbox or psn accounts to their servers then search for the group when you get logged in. Might be a decent way to organize for active players.

I can't find the group you created. Post a link and I'll just join from my iPad.

I was in the reddit clan but nobody in those clans ever play together.

I can see his point regarding borderlands. It narrows things down quite a bit.

I'm usually on in the afternoons, but can be on in the evenings when needed (per my work schedule, of course). I just joined the Bungie.net group.

There is a third mission on Earth that I cant figure out how to unlock. Devils Lair. Anyone know how to get to it?

I had to go to The Tower and talk to the shipmaster and then it unlocked it for me. Devil's Lair is a really hard mission.

EDIT: You have to have a Playstation Plus account to play that mission btw.

Yeah, I finally found it. That is a tough ass mission. I ended up running out of ammo and having to just attack it with a shotgun. While the other two hit it from a distance. Nobody communicates though. Drove me nuts.

You can buy consumables that will refill your ammo. Once you use one you have to wait 5 minutes before you can use another, I have like 20 of them sumbitches.

where do I find those. I haven't noticed any options like that when I'm at the tower.

From the gunsmith. They are pretty cheap too.

Devils Lair was fun. I got matched up with some random peeps that were pretty good. None of them had a mike though.

Also got my ass handed to my in the crucible.

Still never got a code.

How are you guys playing this?

My pet theory is that they have some kind of standing deal with the console makers to release this on ps4/xbone first, to boost sales for the next gen hardware. Then we'll see an announcement over the winter that it's coming to pc in spring 2015. It was developed on PC so it doesn't really make sense that it hasn't/isn't going to come out on the platform.

And they'll probably get me with it. This is the only game that's making me even think about grabbing a ps4. I just wish I knew one way or the other, that it either is or it isn't going to be out on PC.

It's going to suck when they take this alpha away from me this is the first game on my PS4 that I genuinely enjoyed.

You won't miss it for long, as long as you pre-ordered. Beta's going to be live in mid July (17th I think).

That's true. At least The Last of Us Remastered will be out on July 29th so I'll have something to play until September 9th.

This has me thinking about a console for the first time since the original playstation. I just hate dishing out that much money. Might depend on whatever legacy games I'm able to stream through PS Now. If I'm able to catch up on red dead and uncharted, it'll probably be worth it.

Some people on neogaf found out that the exclusive content they talked about at E3 (the Strike mission, multiplayer map, guns/ships) are exclusive to the PS4 until the fall of 2015.

I wonder how long the DLC they are sure to add during the course of the game will be exclusive, or maybe the DLC won't be exclusive at all... A year-long wait for content is way too long.

Beta details (as well as CE details) were announced today, as well as names and sparse details for the first two expansions (The Dark Below and House of Wolves).

Beta's going to run from the 17th to the 21st on PS3-4, then go down for maintenance. Then it'll be on all four platforms from the 23rd through the 27th.

Just preorder it on Amazon and cancel it after the beta until you decide. That's what I'm doing. I'm gonna read if the preloading on the PSN store works before I decide because I would like to play it on midnight on Sept. 9th.

Very nice. I saw that Destiny bundle and that white PS4 looks freaking incredible. Too bad it doesn't come out for another 2 months.

I hate white consoles. Don't know what it is but they just look like cheap plastic to me. I prefer black as they are just less noticeable.

I'm inclined to just preorder from the PSN store so I don't have to worry about always needing the disk. Kind of sucks they don't have any pre order benefits other than the beta access. This is obviously a game that will be played for 10 years so I won't be trading it in anyway.

I thought about it, but it's kind of hard to do the beta without the console.

Plus all my furniture is black...

Just realized I won't even be around during the week of the beta. Oh well. LMAO

That states there is no charge to your card until 2 days prior to game release but it seems they want me to pay in full now. Has anyone else preordered on PSN? did you have to pay in full day one or not?

If this is true, can someone hook me up with a beta code? I want to get this on the PSN digital download but evidently they require payment up front rather than charging you when the game comes out. I would rather pay in September than have to pay it all upfront now. And I want the digital version so I don't have to deal with the disc everytime I want to play.

PSN makes you pay in full when you preorder. I can give you one of my extra codes whenever I get them.
