Need advice on a tablet.
I want to buy my old man a tablet for Christmas so he can FB with the family and keep tabs on his friends and events.
He's fairly computer-literate so the learning curve shouldn't be too hard. Is there a model I can buy that has built-in internet so that he doesn't have to buy airtime or service cards? Thank you. |
We gave my FIL an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX last year for Christmas so he could Facebook, Skype and email with us and my 6 year old (who also received a Kindle for Christmas). A year later and both are going strong.
My mom initially took my brother's advice and bought a Dell, which didn't work properly. After hours on tech support, they sent her a replacement. It didn't work either so she got a refund. She finally took my advice and bought a Kindle HDX 8.9 and she's never had any issues and loves it. |
All tablets have wifi for internet. What is your price range and what size tablet is he looking for

I always recommend the Nexus 10. I use it quite often and i have had it for a year and a half. Thing runs like a beast still. I love it

Got my 73 year old mother an HD fire last year, she knows nothing of the internet. Now she is a pro. Their support is second to none.

I'm on the Galaxy Note 10.1 and absolutely love it. But it is on the expensive end of the spectrum. For what you are needing you could go with the sub $300 tablets easy.

If he's tech savvy and you want to have lots of options for apps and games, go with a Nexus. If ease of use is more important for the core group of most popular apps, Kindle Fire.

That HDX with the help system looks pretty sweet. |

Probably better off financially getting internet at his house with wireless. |

Got my mom an iPad and she loves it. There are no contracts, as the service is month to month.

But a Galaxy anything would be great. |
