You guys could have had a winning record against that other Kansas school.

Oh well, maybe next year...but probably not.

I think the greatest college accomplishment would be UF winning the NCAA tourney in 06 and 07 and winning the 2006 BCS Championship. Michigan also won the Big 10 and the Rose Bowl the same year they won the NCAA tournament in the 88-89 season. I think they came pretty close to doing the same thing when they had the fab five.

Look, it's tough on a li'l Spring Hill fella when the one thing he really wants all to himself has to be shared. The Cats aren't here to take it forever. The Cats just wondered what would happen if they actually put some effort into what is essentially an Olympic sport.

Hang in there.

Yeah what K-State accomplished was great for K-State, but it isn't that rare. It happened in the Big XII in 05 and 06.

This has nothing to do with the rivalry but I absolutely hate shared championships. I don't understand why college conferences do this. There can be only one.

And that is exactly what happened. People didn't go to games in the eras of Altman, Asbury and Wooly. Yet the admin just trotted them out there not giving a ****. I remember so well after Wooly's FIFTH season of not finishing above .500 in conference I quit going and informed the AD I would never go back if they gave him a sixth year. And they STILL gave him another year. The Powertard mantra was : "But Wooly is SO close" to delivering a winner. Which was horseshit.

It's interesting that you posted what you did. Because that kind of thinking is what FINALLY gave impetus to the hiring of Bob Huggins. Obviously you weren't here at the time, but the move was quickly panned by the resident tards.

And he delivered immediately. When he left and Frank was hired I remember the reerun that worked at 610 at the time Mascot, who would then start the Shiver or whatever website, said "you coulda had Mark Fox". Those were great days.

My biggest worry is that Bruceketball will lead KSU back to the bad old days.

They should do what ku does and just purchase the refs. It's a lot cheaper. Although its not working well in football for us. Seems they just take our money and ignore their duties. Weird huh?

I'd say the Grand Slam in Golf would probably be the greatest accomplishment in all of sport, probably because you don't have a team to rely on.

In terms of team sports, it is definitely in the top 25 percentile, but nothing near the "greatest".

Prison Bitch 03-10-2013 08:03 PM

It's already been done by Texas and OU in Big 12 play. It's not all that rate or amazing. They need to do something in march. If they go to the FF they will start approaching KU 2008. Unfortunately they already lost their BCS game so even a title in hoops won't match it. Still an impressive year for kstate

Totally agreed. Sagarin put 07 Kansas #2 in his final rating, 12 KSU at #8. While you are correct that's not close, it was still a very good football season in Manhattan this year.

Spott 03-10-2013 08:54 PM

Finishing in 3rd place in your conference without beating a ranked team all year isn't even in the same ball park as actually earning a Fiesta Bowl bid by winning your conference and beating 4 ranked teams(2 of them on the road).

Pretty sure KU beat the #5 team in the country that year. Dumbass.

Either way, winning 9 straight conference championships in a major sport is by far the greatest accomplishment in the Midwest sports history. It's not even close.

Pretty sure that they didn't play a ranked team all year to earn a bowl bid, dumbass. Oh yeah, they played one and lost causing them to finish 3rd and play an almighty ACC football powerhouse. Tech would have been the 5th best team in the Big 12 that year.

It got them a BCS bowl game championship did it not?

Here's what MU fans seem to forget or simply just can not understand. It's not KU's fault that MU's athletic director is an incompetent pos. KU's AD did what it took to make the selection committee select them over MU.

Was it a bullshit decision? Of course, MU was a better team and beat KU that season. But hate the game, not the player. Had the right decision been made, it'd be MU fans pounding their chests about beating an ACC team, not KU fans.
