Question for Denverites

Or is that Denverians?

I'm going to be in Denver the 1st week of December for work. Our office is in Wheat Ridge near I-70 and Kipling Street. There are several hotels there, but they all seem to be "discount" chains with cheap rates. I'm curious what that area is like. Would it be considered unsafe or a high crime area?

I don't mind saving the company some money, but I'm not staying in some shit hole for a week.

You should rent Rain Man's apartment for a week. You could teach him how to coast his car into his garage.

I wouldn't call it unsafe or high crime, but there certainly isn't anything to do right there. The Denver West area around Colorado Mills Mall has a couple of hotels where you are closer to better restaurants. Golden is nicer still and has good non-chain hotels with great restaurants that you can walk to, but is more expensive. If you stay in downtown Golden be sure to check out Golden City Brewery. It's a great little microbrewery.

Any of these places should be an easy 10-15 min drive to 70 and Kipling.

I would just like to mention that the record for most people encapsulated in a bubble is 181 peoples who were enclosed in a pretty big soap bubble on September 19, 2012 by renown bubble artist, Fan Yang.

Denver doesn't really do high crime, but we have our moments hosting high profile crime.

The pink castle taco place is way over rated

Truly, I'll be damned if I know why they serve food at all.

I used to live in Evergreen, in the foothills right above there. Wheat Ridge isn't scary or anything, but it's not the nicest area. I would second the Colorado Mills/Golden suggestion. Colorado Mills would be cheaper, Golden would be cooler.

I don't know that area very well, but if I had to guess, I'd say that it's not high crime, but not particularly nice. If money and convenience aren't a huge issue, I'd recommend either Golden or the heart of downtown Denver. Downtown will be much more expensive ($200+ per night), but it's cool. Golden is a very nice small town inside the metro area.
