I hear ya.

I'm bout to go 'q it up right now.

Got some Fun-dogs and my KC Masterpiece. Still gotta pick up a loaf of Wonder bread and a bottle of ketchup.

Damn good barbecue.

The answer to overall best in KC is L.C.'s Bar-B-Que, though I wouldn't really disagree with someone who said Oklahoma Joe's. L.C.'s is more traditional, and does brisket a lot better (Joe's, on the other hand, is more consistent and does pork better).

Smokestack - been once, I was like 12.
Haywards - been once, I was like 14
Bryants - been like twice, I remember the sauce sucking.

so, I have to go w/ Gates over Zarda, Zarda is very inconsistent, well, their ribs are anyway. I'd give Zarda an edge on one of their good days, though.

i read that as 'Pickle-loaf.'

Pickleloaf is delicious also. Throw on some KC Masterpiece on white bread, and it's BBQ time.

Same goes for Pimento cheese. As long as you put KC Masterpiece on your pimento sandwich; it's technically BBQ.

And yeah, you can call me that. I'm not too particular.

Simply Red 05-13-2009 04:47 PM

no 'Rustlers' option? :)

bevischief 05-13-2009 06:06 PM

No Spam...? Option?

stlchiefs 05-13-2009 06:11 PM

1. OK Joes (I still hate the name)
2. LCs
3. ABs
4. Winslows

Though these could all move up or down a spot any given day.

Mixed Plate w/ Brisket and Turkey = GOD.

I don't want my brisket slathered in Molasses-paste and melting in my mouth; I want that sonofabitch marinated 24 hours with rub, crispy on the outside, and firm enough to make you feel like your working a little bit.

And LC's Burnt Ends FTW!

I had some of the best smoked ham, chicken and turkey at ......

Novella's Soup Trolley
11400 E. Truman Road.

Personally I think Zarda's should have stuck to Ice Cream.

It seems to me that most of the BBQ joints tend to go downhill when they branch out. The Original Jack Stack in Martin City was damn good the few times I went. The one in O.P. sucked ass. Same holds true for Arthur Bryants the original is good but the one at Legends sucks.

Growing up in Rosedale I ate quite a bit of their Q but they tend to go up and down in quality.

Who cares about who's best in KC? The real question is which of these joints is willing to expand to Atlanta???

You can have Rosedale; that sauce is a blight on humanity.
