I get sick of our guys always talking food, their last round of golf, and arguing about non sports drivel. Not to mention the on air non commercial advertising. Even though they technically only do 16 minutes of commercials per hour, there seems to be less than 25 minutes of actual content here in KC>

I listen to alot of espn L.A during basketball season, Mason and Ireland and Max and Marcellus, usually only interviews are repeated.
On the weekends they have this show called Weekend Warrior with Dr. Robert Klapper the head Surgeon or someshit at Ceaders in L.A and they break down sports injuries, very informative. Its really cool shit. Last Sat they talked to the Vikings team doctor about Peterson and why he recovered so fast and why MCL's and ACL's tear without direct contact. Good shit. http://espn.go.com/espnradio/losange...ive?id=6182844 |
Got some numbers, perhaps I won the Commercial/Drivel combo-pack on 610 this morning.... I got in the truck at 6:44am in Lee's Summit and stepped out at 7:26am in the parking garage in downtown KC. In that there were 17:54 seconds of "talk." I use the term loosely because this is what I heard:
* Commercials were playing when I got into the truck * Next they went into a long dialog about the upcoming "Top 10" list for MT * Got the news update - that was informative * I know somebody got a free camera shoved up his furnaces' ass (and that's good evidently) * Then it's going to be signing day, but most of that was about the girls who take tha faxes off the machine, so I didn't count that time. We all know we'd **** any of those girls if given the chance. This is unless they talked as much as these guys did. * More on the Top 10 (and how we all know know what MT's going to do mostly, so we're to focus on 2-10. OK! * Then there was a VERY circular debate about BA and does he deserve $10M a year. No offense to the fine Bob at 610 and his posse, but I didn't leave the truck any better for the cause. I appreciated the fact that some clown in Baltimore thinks either 13 or 19 years (he didn't recall the exact number of years the doode said) is too long to wait for a SB parade.. Yeah, I agree, STFU Mr. Baltimore guy! And I can appreciate a quick reference to the fax girls, I like it as much as the next person, but don't drag it out. Perhaps the facts are this; those 18'ish minutes of content in 40'ish minutes (let's call it 50%) reflected a slow sports day, the Kansas City area is just having a slow sports week (so we focus on BA!), or these guys just weren't on their radio game this morning... |

Their talk stations are worse than regular AM/FM stations. Really is discouraging that I can listen to Sirius for my 25 min drive into the office and catch 20+ min of commercials. They are extremely frustrating... |

At least Fescoe on 610 keeps it funny with sports top ten lists when they have exhausted the day's sports topics. Fescoe is so much better than the "illegal immigrant patrol". |

But I have the option to turn off the radio, I just wanted to answer something I had be curious about for a while. I'm not saying I'll even turn the radio off, I just might focus on other things. It's all good. :D |

Back on the topic of actually talking sports. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I mean what is there to talk about right now? College basketball or Royals couldn't put me to asleep faster. I like the NBA but around here nobody cares. At this point I'm only partly listening for draft talk. Outside of that? Yeah bring on the light hearted talk about Cdot's date with Kelly Jones, etc.. It's no different from the vast majority of threads on here during the off-season. |
