Early 2017 Chiefs Mock (3 rounds)
1. Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida St.- perfect replacement for Jamaal. Top 15 talent that could probably be had at the end of the 1st. Great speed and home run ability.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6INC...uOJkkOYP9XSIDQ 2. Shalom Luani, S, Washibgton St.- we didn't really replace Branch this offseason, so I'd like to add a talented SS/LB hybrid that can play in the box so Parker and Berry don't have to. One of my favorite prospects in this draft. Great range, hits like a truck, and has better ball skills and is better in coverage than you'd think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMp-UNXIrUI 3. Skai Moore, ILB, South Carolina- I think next years the year we have to start looking for DJ's future replacement in the early rounds. Skai Moore has all the tools to be a great WILB. Very good in coverage and has the ball skills to go with it. Plays bigger than he is in the run game also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd_dfqDJ0Zg 3. Joe Mathis, OLB, Washington- big strong edge that has been playing out of position in their defense, so he has some untapped potential as a pass rusher. Reminds me of Jordan Jenkins this year, who I though would be a great backup/insurance for Houston. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qNZ...0ShBZuW1lJNf9g |
This isn't a dig, but with the ease it takes to find a solid RB in today's NFL, combined with a proven West and Ware combo, I don't think RB would be a good pick in the 1st Rd.
A lot can happen this year, but with Dorsey's history, it would seem like he'd draft a DL or OLB to prepare to replace Howard or Tamba. Would also expect us to go heavy on the OL to prepare for replacing Reid and Fulton/LDT (both FA's in 2018). |
I think we go OLB (Hali's replacement, if not Ford or if we prefer to have 3), or MLB (DJ's replacement) in the 1st.
Outside of Guard, TE2 or a blue chip QBOTF or blue chip WR1OTF, our offense should be set. I think we should be set in the secondary, assuming some our recent DB investments are capable of playing safety. Our DLine rotation is pretty set, assuming we resign Poe. The OLB 2/3 spot and the MLBOTF are the biggest gaps, in my opinion. |
I have a dream, a glorious dream, that some day it will finally be our turn to draft a blue chip quarterback prospect and quit signing/trading for journeymen reeruns like Alex Smith.

I wouldn't be upset with an RB at 32. That's far enough down the round that the only position that is an absolute no would be K or P. :)

To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To be better far than you are To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest, to follow that star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To be willing to give when there's no more to give To be willing to die so that honor and justice may live And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars, Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star |
But at least he wasn't drafting another fatass 1st round OL.
|
I watched 4 minutes of the Cook highlight reel and he only lost yards on 85% of the plays.

RB in the first rd? Hell no

Florida's defense last year, by the way, was outstanding. Just so happened that their offense was complete dog shit and put that defense back on the field way too much. |
