Miller has to be a part of the rotation going forward too though.

Not firing Matheny while trading prospects and Allen Craig to get pitchers with an offense that is next-to-last in baseball is the very definition of penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Which means he becomes a FA after 2015. Consensus seems to be a handshake agreement not to tender him a QO so that he can garner more interest on the open market and bank another payday.

That also means huge surplus value for the Cardinals.

Yeah, I was thinking there is no way he plays for 500K but he has made a lot of money in his career and its about over. When he walks after 2015, someone will sign him and we will get a compensation pick

I like the trade only because I have zero faith Craig is going to revert to form.

Now watch, Matheny is going to put PB in center and Jay in RF half of the time.

BigRedChief 07-31-2014 12:19 PM

Also got this throw in project

Corey Littrell, 22, was a starter for Salem of the Class A Carolina League. He is 5-5 with a 3.60 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 100 innings this season.

Which means Cards could also trade him next summer for some prospects since our pitching will hopefully have a surplus then and we probably won't re-sign him?
