Yes and no.. It's a temporary fix -- once your save file gets to be large in size, these framerate issues will come back :(
Yup, Bethesda has once again shit on the PS3 and they are remaining far too quiet on this PS3 issue...
Only thing you can do to guarantee smooth gameplay -- create a new character and enjoy until you get to about 40+ hours of gameplay.. sucks.

I've been having better results lately. Running the game at medium setting, it shits out on me every now and then, but it's just the game that crashes and not the computer. About half way to Level 58 - this one's taking a long, long time. I'm thinking 60 would be the cap, just because at this point gaining skill levels barely makes the bar move. I've got nearly 80K gold - I'm getting to the point where I don't even bother picking shit up anymore.

Married my Solitude housecarl - I was hoping for some hot lesbo sex, but there doesn't seem to be an option in the dialogue box that sets it off (although I can now buy stuff from my wife, including the double-enchanted armor and weapons I'VE GIVEN HER). What a bitch.

Finally joined the Stormcloak Rebellion, but I haven't started any quests yet. Have still barely scratched the surface of the main plot.

I think Bethesda has said the mathematical level cap is 70. At that point, you'd have maxed out every category.

You've just been doing nothing but side quests?

Does the game allow you to join all of the different groups? Dark Brotherhood? Companions?

I've done very little of the main quest. I'm lever 58ish, too, and just joined the Empire a couple of days ago. I'm through Dark Brotherhood, Mage's College... started Thieve's Guild but not inclined to do it anymore because I screwed up and sold my guild armor (which prevents me from actually finishing the quest line)... haven't started the Imperial quests or joined Companions, yet.

Yep. I have completed the main quests for the companions, dark brotherhood and the thieves guild, although I'm holding off on one of the last thieves guild quests because I like having the skeleton key (I think I have about 500 lockpicks now :D ). There may be some more bard college stuff too, but I haven't checked lately. I also do a lot of extra stuff for the various jarls.

I really just need to complete one quest line before I get started on more. I'm running around trying to work on like 4-5 different quest lines at once.

I should actually spend 3-4 days just working on getting my smithing and enchanting leveled up.

I'm pretty sure I'll burn out on the game before I get that far.

So is Oblivion worth picking up?

Not after Skyrim. Skyrim is a much better version of Oblivion.

I played it in much the same way I've played this one. I'm sure it will seem somewhat lame in comparison to this. Dungeons and ruins are extremely repetitive and the NPCs are generally reeruned. However, it's a great game. I played it for months, maxed everything out, and then one day burned out in the middle of an expansion and never played again. But I certainly got my money's worth out of it.

Ehh....I figured it might be worth a pickup. The GOTY edition is only $19.99 brand new.

If you do decide to get Oblivion, IMO the Dark Brotherhood quests were the best part of the game. IIRC all you have to do to get an invite is murder an innocent NPC for the fun of it. They contact you after that.

Stupid n00b question:

How do you not fire an arrow after you've already pulled it back?
