THE WHITE SOX ARE INTENTIONALLY WALKING CHRIS GETZ. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD BE.

Thank you, Robin Ventura. Really, you shouldn't have. (I'm not being polite. You really shouldn't have. Because that was ridiculous.)

Ceej 05-05-2013 03:52 PM

Where's that douchey white sux fan been the last couple of games?

LMAO

Pitt Gorilla 05-05-2013 03:54 PM

Hosmer had tough luck today. He's hitting the ball really hard.

DJJasonp 05-05-2013 03:54 PM

YES!!!!

The bottom may drop out at some point......but I'm enjoying the hell out of this while it lasts!!

KCrockaholic 05-05-2013 03:54 PM

This team is pretty awesome to watch.

So did Escobar. The Royals should have had about 20 hits today.

gblowfish 05-05-2013 03:56 PM

Hey, Hoch actually came up big today. He pitched better than Collins and Crow. Weird.

KCrockaholic 05-05-2013 03:56 PM

Now Detroit needs to stop.

ChiliConCarnage 05-05-2013 03:57 PM

Royals in first place for the moment. They'd be in first in two other divisions and if we ended the season today I think they'd be a playoff team*.

* end the season today please

The Tigers cant play Houston every day. Eventually they have to beat the Royals.

WoodDraw 05-05-2013 04:00 PM

I don't want to go back through because I'm on my cell, but why wasn't that walkoff caught?

suzzer99 05-05-2013 04:01 PM

We may, just may - actually make Sportscenter.

Technically yes, they have the best record of the non-division leaders. They'd host the Yankees in the wild card play-in game.

Rios appeared a bit gimp after the play. It was well hit deep though. Their outfield got to a lot of balls today that I thought might sneak in.

its a mystery. The only explanation is that he badly misjudged the ball. Gordon was pulling up as if "welp, thats the 3rd out, damn it", and the crowd was stunned when it dropped.

alnorth 05-05-2013 04:04 PM

Jesus, Detroit plays Houston three more times next week. Oh well, we'll eventually get our Houston games too. If we're within 2 games after Wednesday, I'll be happy.

Old Dog 05-05-2013 04:04 PM

very fun fact.....no team in the majors has less losses than the Royals

duncan_idaho 05-05-2013 04:05 PM

I would like to hear what Robin Ventura was thinking when he intentionally walked Chris Getz. Should be quite the conversation.

That's Hillman-esque in its indefensible stupidity.

Shogun 05-05-2013 04:08 PM

Falu Triple and Lough base hit, walk off in 10th for Omaha. Well done, guys.

Hoch is right where he needs to be. He is not starter material but is perfect in a setup or closer role.

Saul Good 05-05-2013 04:35 PM

We had four players see over 20 pitches today...including Frenchy.

Gordon, Butler, Moose, and Frenchy saw a combined 90 pitches. That is a great sign.

Demonpenz 05-05-2013 04:39 PM

Anyone know how to get chiefsplanet off of moble?

...

you think he has a closer mentality?

the best we can hope for is this nice stretch is giving him some confidence and maybe we could end up making a quality starter out of him after all

I highly doubt it...but he's been excellent so far this year.

Saul Good 05-05-2013 05:56 PM

Hoch is what he is. He can eat up some low pressure innings, but I can't imagine ever wanting him to pitch in important situations ever again.

Maybe we can trade him for another Guthrie. Who else is secretly really good on the Rockies that they don't want?

Ceej 05-05-2013 06:04 PM

I think this song is fitting here. Plus it is a bad ass song.

"We'll fight until it's over."

Where's the LoCain love? Dude has been clutch this year. Need him to stay healthy all year. Right now, he is arguably an all-star. Leads the team in average and clutch hits.

I think there is plenty of LoCain love. Dude has been money all year. I thought his steal in the bottom of the 10 was pretty ballsy.

Mr. Arrowhead 05-05-2013 07:04 PM

Hoch did keep us within striking distance

Hootie 05-05-2013 07:41 PM

yeah you can't really call Hoch's outing tonight a "no pressure" situation

of course, when we get down by 1 run in the 3rd inning half of the regular Royals posters think the game is over

CaliforniaChief 05-05-2013 08:11 PM

What an amazing win! I am officially in love with this team.

We're going through the meat of our schedule (well not the Sux, but you know what I mean) and they're burning their Houston games.

I am absolutely convinced that we will be there to the end. Now let's sweep them out tomorrow. Time for Big James' revenge against Sale.

I called it low pressure. We were trailing by multiple runs late in the game. If he'd have given up a couple of runs, and we had lost 7-4, nobody would have been talking about Hochevar.

Hootie 05-05-2013 09:48 PM

we were down 2, right?

Hootie 05-05-2013 09:49 PM

either way...each and every outing he's gaining more and more trust from the manager

I think they'll throw him into the fire real soon and see how he reacts

bumping this. Intentionally walking Getz was a key moment of the game.

It's good to be on the other end of those type of mistakes.

Mother****erJones 05-05-2013 10:01 PM

I haven't watched my Sox much because the hitting is terrible. They suck beyond belief. But Robin intentionally walking Getz is a fireable offense.

AussieChiefsFan 05-06-2013 02:02 AM

Detroit's 4 game series in Houston is over. Time to retake 1st place.

Archie F. Swin 05-06-2013 04:28 AM

I had to to leave when they went to the pen. I later checked the score and suddenly it was 5-3 Sox. Wha' happen?

ChiefMojo 05-06-2013 05:34 AM

Collins decided to give up the lead.

Yes. We were down two in the eighth inning. Yost didn't bring him in to clean up the mess in the seventh. He game him a clean inning in a game that was assumed to be lost 80% of the time...at home...in front of a tiny crowd. It was low pressure.

When Yost brings him into a game with runners on first and second with one out and the game tied in the eighth at Detroit, or something similar, I'll believe they have faith in Hochevar. (AndI will have lost faith in Yost if they do that. There's just no upside when our pen is this stacked.)

I recognize the fact that yesterday wasn't mop up time, but it was still low pressure.
