Justified

Tuesdays 9pm Central. One of the better shows on TV right now.

Miles 03-14-2010 04:51 PM

Cletus Van Damme vs Seth Bullock. Looks like it could be pretty good so long as it doesn't fall into the trap you mentioned.

OMFG, Natalie Zea* as a redneck woman. No chance in HELL I'm missing this. You start off with Olyphant and Goggins and add the hottest bod in all of TV. . . PPHHHHHHUUUUUCCCCKKKK!!!!

* for those failing to place her, she's the chick who played the older sister who was in love since childhood with the family attorney in Dirty Sexy Money, and the 'client' Thomas Jane fell in love with on Hung.

Same here. I could swear I posted a clip from it almost a year ago, but I can't find it. Everything I've heard says that it's Shield level great. Can't wait to see it.

yeah i liked him in that movie too.. I liked him in everything he was in for the most part.. He is an excellent actor.. I wonder why he isn’t a “superstar” actor.. Everything he does is done well. Maybe because he mainly does major roles on TV?!

I actually really enjoyed his character in the last Die Hard. Some nice subtle beats selling the tightly wound bad guy. Even managed to inject some humor.

He was also very good iin Girl Next Door. I can't think of a bad acting job.

Like usual, I'm late to the party. Are they re-airing the first episode? If not is it on hulu or something?

Now that Burn Notice is over, I need a new obsession. ;)

Watch the Perfect Getaway with Olyphant. He did a damned good job in that movie as well.

tymania 03-18-2010 08:17 AM

This show is going to be awesome.. i think it might even out do SOA, but probably wont be on the same level as the Shield

jwazzie 03-18-2010 08:28 AM

Beside the terrible looking bombing of the church (looked like something out of Walker, Texas Ranger) it was very good and I will be watching every week.

Bowser 03-21-2010 07:43 PM

Yeah, I'm going to be liking this show. Olyphant just nails that character.

Its because alot of the creators have ties to other shows.

For instance the creator of Sons of Anarchy, was one of the writers from The Shield.

Finally got to watch the first episode last night. Rylan Givens character seems like a modern day version of Seth Bullock. I think this show looks like a keeper.

good stuff, all three episodes so far, the last two kinda "fluffy" for my taste, would like more action like the pilot. But willing to let them find themselves, writing and get their stride. Top notch, promise.
But really missing SOA (Sons Of Anarchy)

Great post. My thoughts exactly. 100 % agree. You watch Breaking Bad man? If you like Justiied, and SOA, you should like it.

Yea, for whatever reason....this show reminds me of the "Rockford Files" with its offbeat villians and situations....

its still trying to find its footing, but i see alot of potential here. I love how they give even the secondary characters great dialog. Good stuff.

I'm totally the opposite. Love the mix of anger and wistful regret and cockiness and southern manners.

And as big a fan of Deadwood as I was, I didn't think Olyphant distinguished himself overly there. Part of that had to do with him playing such a reserved character often juxtaposed against one of [and amidst many of] the most fascinating outlandish characters in TV history.

Sully 04-07-2010 09:11 AM

40 minutes in, and this is the best ep yet.

Hell, I was laughing my ass off 1 minute in with the teeth pulling.

Love the offbeat characters and low key humor of this show.

I have a feeling we will get more on the ex-wife as the story grows.

I think Raylan vs the Good ole boys is going to be fun to watch. Loved the veiled threat / tip off that Ava is on the Crowder boys hitlist.

Bowser 04-14-2010 10:04 PM

Anyone else get the feeling that Ava is setting Raylan up?

You don't go setting someone up by killing someone like she did. I don't see who she would be in cohoots with or what it would benefit her.

It's possible, but I sense that the purpose of her character is to show the draw of Raylan's roots. He's angry and driven and wants to be anywhere but home. But he's not immune to the charm of a fine piece of tail with a good heart.

There's already enough drama in the situation with him already being on thin ice in his profession, and turning around and sleeping with a material witness. A betrayal might be a cheap thrill, but there are richer directions they can go with the situation.

Buck 04-16-2010 05:53 PM

Isn't Raylan's ex wife the chick who had the drug sniffing dog in The Shield?

jwazzie 04-21-2010 09:35 AM

It was a definite "bridge" episode. I think Ava still has something bad about her. Just waiting to see where the ex-wife angle goes, especially next week.

Baby Lee 04-22-2010 06:12 AM

Fact that it aired on Hitler's birthday gets sly props from me.

Raylan was one smooth SOB in the last episode.

FX renews 'Justified'

FX has ordered a second season of "Justified" with a 13-episode pickup.

“We are very excited about the tremendous, widespread acclaim that Justified has received from both audiences and television critics,” said FX president and GM John Landgraf. “Graham Yost, Tim Olyphant, Elmore Leonard and their talented partners have crafted a uniquely ambitious and entertaining series which is everything we aspired to when we developed the show.”

The drama, starring Timothy Olyphant, had a towering debut, dropped sharply, then stabilized in the ratings. To date, the show has averaged 3.4 million total viewers in its freshman season and 1.7 million in the 18-49 demo. The Season 1 finale airs June 8.

“I’m just thrilled, and I’m looking forward to chronicling the future adventures of Raylan Givens,” said Yost. “To work with an actor like Tim, who was born to play this role, has been a wonderful experience.”

"This pick-up speaks volumes to the quality and collaboration on the series, and our unparalleled partnership with FX,” said Jamie Erlicht, president or programming for Sony Pictures Television. "The viewer response to Justified has been as enthusiastic as ours was when we first heard the pitch."

Frankie 05-03-2010 06:22 PM

I've been watching this show from the begining. Great show. Prior to this I had not paid much attention to Timothy Olyphant. But I can't help but observe that he is a great Eastwood successor. If they ever wanted to reprise making Eastwood type westerns in Hollywood Olyphant should be the obvious choice. Add to an Eastwoodian mannerism the voice of the suave Robert Wagner and a dash of a young Jack Nicholson's devilish looks and you've got Timothy Olyphant. Very good combo.

Deberg_1990 05-05-2010 08:36 AM

Good stuff again last night.....The interaction with the convict was funny...nice slow burn buildup for the past few weeks.
