It's not really a zombie show so much as a survival show. The antagonists are merely dressing for the interactions between the characters.

I thought it was a good episode, but really hope the whole farm thing is building up to something big and I hope they find the little girl.

Just had a thought:

the very first episode in the beginning had the sherriff dreaming about a zombie girl at a gas station. Any chance it was the girl who ran off? I may have to go back and rewatch that first episode.
