Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.

Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.

I am ready to see some water balls!

To be honest the only way I would watch golf on TV is if they were playing on an erupting volcano.

Having that said I like to play golf. I just hate watching it.

Is Tiger in it?

No.

I think he had some surgery recently, and is recovering.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 12:38 PM

Oh Boy, Woody Austin may have crossed the line. He put his ball in the water on the 17th then started shaking his fist at the sky, then clapping while looking up, then back to shaking his fist again. The announcers said "watch it Woody". Then one said that is weird.

Didn't offend me, but I am sure some are screaming about it as I am typing this.

Correct, he is still recovering from his surgery. I'm sure the other players are glad that he is out of the field.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 01:33 PM

This is going to end up a crap shoot, on who wins this thing.

Sergio dropped some obscenity on the #2 Tee which prompted an apology from one of the talking heads.

beavis 05-11-2008 01:44 PM

Gambling is illegal at Bushwood sir.

kstater 05-11-2008 01:51 PM

Awesome, a wind assisted foot wedge.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 02:32 PM

Garcia blowing up as always.

Phil 5 back with 9 to play, doesn't look good. But who knows at this course.

Hey Carl, care if I play through?

smittysbar 05-11-2008 03:09 PM

Phil missed a short one, and this nobody chips in from deep rough, if he can hold it together, he has this won.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 03:11 PM

Phil has to drop due to unplayable lie. He is officially done

smittysbar 05-11-2008 03:54 PM

they need to get to the 17th and 18th. I am getting bored

kstater 05-11-2008 03:58 PM

Seergioooo with the loong birdie putt as his up and down run continues.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 03:59 PM

Wow Sergio is stepping up. Is putter is on fire. He just canned a 46'9" putt. 2 strokes back, could get interesting.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:01 PM

And Sergio immediately stumbles by slicing it into the fwy bunker.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:04 PM

Boy this may make the 17th very interesting.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:10 PM

Guido backs up a shot.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:14 PM

Goydos hit into rough, but lie looks to be okay. Bad spot to come in from.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:27 PM

I think, I think that 17 is in Leftie's head a little. He's +15, fixing to be +16/17 for his career on that hole.

Yeah I think that would do it to me to. Boy he got aggressive with that line.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:32 PM

You got to make that putt to win.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:33 PM

yep

kstater 05-11-2008 04:36 PM

Interesting stat, no winner has ever put it in the water on 17 on Sunday.

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:37 PM

got to go for it

kstater 05-11-2008 04:38 PM

Sergio a little amped up on that shot.

I was referring to the adrenaline that caused him to hit it about 10 feet further than planned.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:44 PM

Pressure on Guydos to hit land on 17 now.

kstater 05-11-2008 04:49 PM

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:57 PM

kstater 05-11-2008 04:59 PM

smittysbar 05-11-2008 04:59 PM

kstater 05-11-2008 05:04 PM

smittysbar 05-11-2008 05:04 PM

That was huge

smittysbar 05-11-2008 05:04 PM

smittysbar 05-11-2008 05:05 PM

For my B-Day the guys threw together a scramble on Sat. Had alot of fun, and got pretty shitfaced. CoMo Chief came up and played, and partied with us. A good time had by all.

This week is Tigers return. The US Open is this week. The pairing for round one and two are done and Phil, Tiger, and Adam Scott are paired together. What a pairing, should be a good watch.

Will Tiger be back and kick ass like he never left? Should be fun to watch.

I might be playing in a scramble for cancer research up in Savannah, MO this weekend. Dunno if they need an alternate yet or not, hope they do.

I hope Tiger is back and kicking ass, and I'm sure he will be. Every week you watch Tiger play, you feel like you are watching history in the making. It's a pretty crazy feeling.

Oh, and on another note I had a great round the other day. I'm new to the game, just started playing this spring, but I already love it. I pulled out my 3 wood for the first time, and I was just dead on with it. I was hitting nice little fades 240-250 yards all day. I was always so caught up in the driving aspect of the game, but my 3 wood is a delight to hit. Took it over a pond and a cluster of trees from 250 yards out and put it about 7 yards from the hole. Very rewarding feeling. Had a few legit pars on par 5 holes, and dropped a 180 yard shot a couple feet from the hole with my 5 iron(usually don't hit anything above a 6) and made some very nice chips and putts.

Yep..that's the truth. I've been inconsistent at best with my driver. Sure I've hit a few straight 250 yarders, but I've also hit a ton of 175 yards slices and everything in between.

My 3 wood just worked out great for me..don't know why..it just feels right, and as long as I can improve my iron play and maybe get the driver down sometime soon, I can actually feel relatively good about my game.

When I was younger I though golf was a game for old, boring people and there was no way in hell I'd be one of those stiffs chasing a little white ball around a field..how boring. Now, my only regret is that I didn't start playing earlier. I'm only 21, so luckily I've got plenty of years to get into the game and get better, but I wish I would have at least took some time in middle and high school to play some golf.

Our small high school didn't have a golf team until a buddy of mine started playing and got a few of us interested. We were 13 when we started. By age 17 we had won the Kansas State 3A 4 man championship twice. It is an easy game to pick up when you are young.

Played 18 at Staley Farms a few weeks ago and had a blast.

I know exactly how you feel. Growing up in a small town of LaPlata pop. 1400, with a great golf course. I lived outside of town on a farm and parents didn't play. I am a Lefty so clubs were hard to get a hold of. All of my friends played from a VERY young age. When I turned 18 I bought a set of knock offs 3,5,7,9, SW and driver. I feel in love immediately.

I am know 31 and play 3 to 7 times a week. Have made alot of friends through golf. Truly a great game.
