Five players who will be new Chiefs next year

Name five players who will be new Chiefs next year. It can be either rookies or veterans. It will be interesting to see how close the predictions were come opening day. I'll start:

1) Geno Smith QB
2) Michael Vick QB
3) Greg Jennings WR
4) Jarius Byrd FS
5) Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie DB

Logical guys to pursue IMO:

Greg Jennings/Mike Wallace (Either one. And if Bowe somehow leaves, we HAVE to get one of these guys)
Felix Jones
Kenyon Coleman
Leodis McKelvin
Josh Cribbs

Those are some cheap, low risk, high reward FA's.

I met kenyon 10 years ago when he was a cowboy. is he even still in the league?

I associate Vick with Reid's downslide, I do NOT want him anywhere near KC.

He's going to be 34 next year. But he still plays at a pretty high level, and he would be a quick fix for replacing Dorsey while we develop a rookie... Or maybe Allen Bailey pulls his head out of his steroid ass.

The idea that Geno Smith is a "given" is a huge stretch.

CaliforniaChief 01-03-2013 11:43 PM

Maybe we'll draft the Honey Badger in the third?

The Poz 01-03-2013 11:44 PM

Maybe CB Chris Gamble? Apparently Carolina will be up to their teets in cap $ and he'll have an over 10 mil hit. They'll save almost 8 mil in releasing him. That is, if his shoulder checks out.

1. we are going to need a RB. Andy Reid loves shithead RBs like this whether you or I like it or not

2. we need a WR or 2 or 3 pending on Bowe, because the rest on the roster are awful

3. we need a good TE

4. Andy will rebuild this o-line. Albert could be gone, Lilja retired. Andy will bring in his own o-line and make this priority #1. This has always been Andy's priority in Philly

5. We need a starting #2 CB in the worst way, and I just went with ties to GB.

not sure if it's been brought up, but the idea of Reid dusting off McNabb was speculated on Philly airwaves today. Anthony Gargano, former Inquirer reporter and current radio host for WIP 94.1, says he has a source close to Reid or McNabb telling him such. FWIW.

1. We have three guys who can line up at RB and play well, a 4th who we just drafted, and a 5th who actually played more snaps at RB than just about all of them but our starter. I don't believe our RB situation is an issue, at all.

2. I was agreeing with Wallace

3. I know, unless Moeaki can get healthy and stay healthy 100%, he's freaking solid when he is.

4. If that was a priority in Philly, explain why the Eagles line sucked so bad last year. I don't think he'll have to do a total overhaul, I believe he and Heckert if Heckert takes the job, will sit down with Brandon shortly and get him signed quickly. We definitely need improvement, but we aren't talking total overhaul. We need to go get an all star guard somewhere.

5. I agree, and I didn't mean to "meh" that one, I meant to "yes" that one, my mistake.

I can explain why their o-line sucked because all 3 (4?) Pro Bowl lineman got ****ing hurt. They lost the best LT in the game before the season even started. That will do that to any team lol.

And besides Charles, you are lucky if any of these other RBs on the team make the team next year. This isnt Scooter Piolis team anymore. These Scott Pioli homer draft picks people defend that they think are stashed in Scooters back pocket to pan out and develop into something are mistaken. Andy Reid will cut them on the spot and give zero ****ing ****s and bring in whoever he wants to replace them. That's the beautiful thing about this. Goodbye the Ricky Stanzis, Cyrus Grays, Jake O Connel turdcutters of the world

Andy Reid had as much of a hardon for McCluster as we did, trust me, McCluster has about as strong a chance of being retained as Charles does here with Reid lol. I think Cyrus Gray has a good chance of staying, as does Draughn. I believe we will bring in another back and let Hillis go. #1/#2 "rbs" are figured out already in the Reid offense coming up. Charles and Hillis.

I'd also bet a million dollars that Ricky Stanzi stays here.

What does McCluster have to do with our RB depth? We are talking RBs behind Charles

Hillis will not be back

so that leaves

Nate Eachus
Shaun Draughn
Cyrus Grey

lol we still need a "starting" RB to pair with Charles.

Nowhere in that point does it mean you can just randomly bring up McCluster.

Nowhere in that point does it mean you can just randomly bring up McCluster.

Because McCluster functions in this offense as a Running Back, because he is, in all actuality, a Running Back. Just because we decide to list him as a RB, WR, and a RB/WR every other day, doesn't mean he is any less of a running back. He lines up in the backfield quite a bit still pre snap, and even post snap.

Point is, he's a running back and in an Andy Reid offense, where he was high on McCluster, being a WCO guy, you don't think Reid is going to utilize McCluster out of the backfield in the passing game?

Its hard to say for certain now, but I see Charles/McCluster being somewhat singular dimensions in his offense. I think McCluster will receive out of the backfield more than Charles, and Charles run the ball considerably more than McCluster. I believe that Charles will predominantly be the Runner and McCluster the Receiver. Kind of like how it has been since the two have been playing here. However, I believe that you DO NOT under any circumstance, take touches away from Charles, for anyone. I believe it is okay to go in there with designed plays for McCluster and that is fine by me. But Charles is far more explosive than any player on our field, and I don't watch touches taken away from him unless Reid is keeping him on a pitch count.

Exoter175 01-04-2013 01:06 AM

PS get the hell out of here with Eachus, cut that man instantly.

I've always had the feeling that they were going to work Cyrus Gray into the mix slowly....as in getting more meaningful playing time next year. Maybe it's just wishful thinking though because I wanted to draft Gray coming into the draft last year.

I wonder what Reid will think of ol' Stanzicus?

Thank you! I remember when we had big backs in front of Jamaal and never really got many touches to see what he could do, if anything the Chiefs cultivate RBs like nobodies business, so lets stick it out with this guy. I saw a few flashes this year that could prove to be bright sparks.

You know, I was thinking about something this afternoon. It's a sentimental signing, but I also think it makes football sense.

How about bringing Tony Gonzalez back for one final season? He's still one of the better TE's in the game, and I think along with Moeaki and Boss, would give us pretty good TE play. Teams seem to be going with more TE's anyways.

I know, he's probably done. And he'll probably want to stay with ATL if he does come back. But it would be pretty cool to see him finish with KC, IMO.

jd1020 01-04-2013 10:50 PM

Hasn't Gonzalez said this is his last hoorah?

But I wonder...if Tony gets a ring...or at least the playoff win with ATL, if he wouldn't be open to one last hurrah with the Chiefs. It would be a massive fan move, too.

The guy has basically had 1 season playing with a cpl of the worst QBs in the league while receiving some of the worst coaching in the league. I'm not gonna judge him until after a season with a real coach and QB.
