Mock draft n00bs: If you've never participated or observed this mock, read the rules in the spoiler in the OP. In fact, maybe do it anyway just in case.

Don't be a ****ing weirdo like Direckshun where you announce your pick in some dipshit order. Don't be O.Shitty where you have a particularly egregious misspelling of the player's name. Google the player before you draft him. Don't be billay where you don't use the search function before you make your pick and then go off the clock for 12 hours.

And for the love of God, please keep this thing moving. PM me, ChiefsCountry, or the person ahead of you a short ranking of your pick preferences if you won't be checking this thing for more than half a day.

Just in time. Will switch those picks.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2018 10:53 AM

Are we supposed to provide insight/analysis on our picks at all?

Thank you, RealNiceSNR. Folks were killing Ballard for not over spending on FAs. Ballard just set the Colts up with 4 good picks for 1.

Some people like doing the gay thing and posting pictures of their player when they make the selection.

It's usually good to write a BIT... even a sentence or two why you think this is a good selection. But as the draft wears on, you're probably not going to say too much about the 7th rounders, etc.

In the end, all you really need is the pick in the format described. In bold. That's it.

Oh, and PM the next guy after you select.

You can. Totally up to you. Some people include pictures. Some people include a write up. Some people just do the name, position and school.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2018 04:17 PM

I was thinking maybe the first 2-3 rounds for analysis. For me anyways.

Mother****erJones 03-18-2018 01:01 PM

I think I have my pick already. This will be interesting

After the dust settles after the first six picks, it's gonna be interesting to who is sitting there for Tampa Bay. If there is a QB run could be an interesting player at 7.

The Franchise 03-19-2018 10:02 AM

Owner has been changed.

O.city now has the Eagles and I have the Redskins.

kccrow 03-19-2018 11:29 AM

With the 1st selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Sam Darnold, QB, USC.

I'm at work, so I don't have time to enter my reasoning, will do later on.

The Franchise 03-19-2018 11:33 AM

Make sure you ****ers are sending PMs to the next person to let them know they're on the clock.

Hmm not sure bout the USC QB I'd still take Mahomes or Watson over him

Mother****erJones 03-19-2018 11:41 AM

I’ll stay on top of this. Will be waiting for the PM and checking this thread

RealSNR 03-19-2018 11:45 AM

Without CleveSteve, who will complain about things moving too slowly?

RealSNR 03-19-2018 11:51 AM

Also, may as well help out kccrow. He PM'd me the first pick in case he couldn't be around to post it. I know he already made it, but this includes the rationale for his pick:

Quote:

With the first selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Sam Darnold, QB, USC.

6'3" 221 4.85 40-yard 26 1/2" Vertical 6.96 3-cone

When I think about a QB that can play in the AFC North and that can play in Todd Haley's offense, I think about a guy that has good vision, can push the ball down-field, can throw into tight windows, and can move in the pocket. Darnold definitely checks those boxes. There are some issues, particularly with Darnold carrying the ball at half-mast, which leads to fumbling and a delayed delivery. An NFL team will be able to clean that up rather quickly. All the positives for Darnold though, you can't fix those with other QBs. I think about accuracy, poise in the pocket, and keeping his eye's down-field. You also can't fix guys who have an injury history. After trading for Tyrod Taylor, the Browns have the ability to sit Darnold for a year and let him work on his craft.

I don't care if he makes Barry Sanders and Jim Brown the 2nd and 3rd best all time great RBs this pick was a mistake. NYG have to take a QB here.

The only thing that sucks more than your pick is your lack of ability to pm the next GM. I sent one.

C'mon, man. All we're asking for here is for you stop drafting while eating a Tide pod.
I may have been a little harsh on your pick but at least you made it and it wasn't Jimmy Clausen.

LMAO didn't someone take him top 5 in our mock years ago?

Anyway I'm not sold on Rosen. Mayfield is too immature and Allen is shit. Barkley is the most dynamic player in the draft paired with OBJ and Engram that's a nice trio.

With the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Josh Rosen QB UCLA

I’ll provide some insight later. This move is fairly obvious once they moved up to number 3.

The Franchise 03-19-2018 02:39 PM

Just so you know.....

Bold the the draft pick so it's easier to notice it.

With the 4th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Vita Vea, DT, Washington.

SNR will you do me the honors again. Thanks. Sending PM....

staylor26 03-19-2018 02:55 PM

What kccrow said about Vita Vea:

Quote:

With the fourth selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Vita Vea, DT, Washington.

6'4" 340 5.10 40-yard 41 Bench

After trading Danny Shelton to the Patriots in a questionable move, the Browns now created a huge need at defensive tackle. Vea is an absolute monster that can dominate the line of scrimmage and absolutely commands double-teams. Vea is, virtually, a Haloti Ngata or Dontari Poe (both taken in the top 12) clone who can play the nose or under-tackle equally well and even kick out to five tech in an odd front.

Marco Polo 03-19-2018 05:06 PM

As a Chiefs fan, I love this Broncos pick because I am not sold on either of these QB options.....Baker or Allen. Realistically, I see Allen being gone before Denver drafts and they are stuck with Baker.

Elway sees a little bit of himself in Allen and brings him down from Laramie.

The Denver Broncos select Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming.

RealSNR 03-19-2018 05:26 PM

I realize that a team will take a shot on Josh Allen. Probably top 5, definitely top 10. I know that will happen.

But geez, I can't buy it. You have to be able to locate your throws at the next level. I don't see Allen working out. I just don't.

Surprise mofos. :D

To note, he is the only pick I sent to SNR for the 4th overall. I think that highly of Vea. He's also a lock as a top-10 pick. Write that down.

Chris Ballard and the Indianapolis Colts are thrilled to select Bradley Chubb, DE, NC St.

Indy gets the guy at 6 that everyone had them taking at 3. Fun times for Ballard, 5 picks in the top 67.

This is normally where Buffalo would be scrambling like **** to spend both of their first rounders in order to move up and take the last QB before Miami, Arizona, or even Baltimore could think to trade up and grab the last of them.

If we already had Mahomes and we had a pick this high....I’d be screaming to take him in the top 10. Dude is going to be better than Zack Martin.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Quenton Nelson OG Norte Dame

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TxmHNe-acR8/hqdefault.jpg

Besides Marpet and Dotson the Oline needs help why not get the best O lineman in the draft. Tremendous potential for Nelson to be a long time starter and possible future all pro.

Pm sent to Hoover

Hoover 03-19-2018 07:52 PM

Hoover will draft shortly. Have to get the little dude down for the night!

Hoover 03-19-2018 08:07 PM

With the 8th pick in the NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears select, Denzel Ward - CB, Ohio State

In a division where you will now face Cousins, Rogers, and Stafford twice a year, having a legit secondary is not just something you need, its something you have got to have.

It might be odd seeing the Bears go CB after signing Fuller and Amukamara to deals this offseason, but you need more than two corners in this league and the Bears can walk away from Amukamara after the 2019 season. Drafting the top corner in the draft doesn't just help them in a fierce QB division, but adds stability to the position for years to come as Wards rookie contract fits nicely in with Fuller and Amukamara's deals.

Sending PM now.

staylor26 03-19-2018 08:25 PM

The San Francisco 49ers select Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

Had somebody else in mind here, but with Fitzpatrick falling into our lap we’ll take the BPA in the versatile CB/S from Tuscaloosa.

Direckshun 03-20-2018 07:01 AM

Raiders select Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia.

The Franchise 03-20-2018 10:21 AM

Fixed.

RealSNR 03-20-2018 01:06 PM

Okay, so we can agree this mock isn't about accuracy, right? Because there is no way this would ever happen in the real draft. I completely understand how and why, but in reality Buffalo is going to find some way to trade up into the top 5 to get one of the four QBs. They're probably going to have to pay a lot, too, which includes their extra 1st round pick from the Mahomes trade.

I get why the board fell this way. I know why. No owner made a bad pick necessarily. It's just... yeah. Really inflates what I'll be able to do with the Bills in this mock draft.

The Buffalo Bills select Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

The Franchise 03-20-2018 01:13 PM

The Redskins need help at multiple different positions. WR isn't a need anymore since they traded for Alex Smith. They could use a CB....even though they signed Scandrick but the class is deep at that position.

The Washington Redskins select Da'Ron Payne, DT, Alabama.

The Redskins need the most help on the defensive line. They need someone to help stop the run and provide at least a little interior passrush. Vea would have been nice but I'm just fine with settling for Payne.

RealSNR 03-20-2018 01:19 PM

So I know Rodgers got his face kicked in last year and the defense is still kind of a mess, but I don't see another player currently on the board right now as good as this guy is at his position. Packers have simply got to take a risk and hope the rest of the draft falls their way.

The Green Bay Packers select Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

That would’ve been my pick if Fitzpatrick didn’t fall to 9.

BossChief 03-20-2018 02:21 PM

The Arizona Cardinals select Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

That gives the defense a turnover machine across from PP that is a solid tackler and fills their biggest current need.

I would love to see Veach trade up and get JJ. I fear the price would be too steep.

I’m hoping his combine performance and the depth of the position group makes JJ fall. He would be a great replacement for Peters.

I’d be legit excited if we got him. Use this years and next years 2 to get him if that would work...but he will be long gone.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-20-2018 03:03 PM

One could argue for Courtland Sutton here or OL help, but the potential at a premium position is too much to turn down. Davenport fits right in as Terrell Suggs is nearing the end of his career with no sure fire stud across from him.

The Baltimore Ravens select Marcus Davenport, EDGE, UTSA.
