Seriously though, we have banned people for a few days in the past and it is in the FAQ, so please don't do it in the future.

As far as NSFW stuff, we do enforce it the best we can... if it's reported, we generally clean it up and either send a warning or issue a short ban depending on the situation and the outcome of classified math equations.

Thing is, you can make paella without a paella pan. Cook's Illustrated has a recipe available for paella in a dutch oven.

I actually don't line up with Alton on that. I think a lot of unitaskers are great: it's a question of which ones make for a significant improvement in ease or results. To me, it's just a question of space.

Is it really that big a deal? Personally, I get a chuckle out of these things. If you don’t, go back, click on another thread, and go about your day.

I don't know how long the rule has been around, but I know it was put in place back when these kinds of threads were more common, which made it more annoying. Personally, I'm pretty apathetic about it as long as it's not happening all the time... but, we can't just enforce it when we think it's happening too often... so, IMO, a good middle ground for these 'misleading but not fake' threads is to simply change the title and send a warning as long as it's not someone who's constantly doing the same thing... and maybe screw with them a little. :)

It's the same result though, and people post it for the same reason. If someone creates a thread 'Manning signs with Chiefs!', does it matter if it's fake or if some guy named Manning signed with a minor league baseball team?

I do see a difference, yes. Happy to agree to disagree, though. To me, it's easy to make something up and fool people. Real news is much harder to come by.
