Obv, Burns will be the CF in 2018. Unless Starling somehow explodes. Even then, it's likely Burns because they'll need him if Boni/Soler are the corner OF.


They almost have to play that corner OF next year. Poor Billy: he will be hospitalized for exhaustion by July, having to cover all that ground every night

The supply of OF's in AAA and AA are pretty thin. You don't think the Royals can procure their 2018 CF'er at this years trade deadline?

Well, Burns is hitting well at AAA (.370 OBP) and has MLB experience, and a proven defender/base runner. DM has his CF and 9-hitter for cheap the next year or two. So I'm an optimist there

I always envisioned Burns as the next Jarod Dyson. 4th outfielder type.

Any idea what the plans may be for Dozier? Seemed to have a higher ceiling than Boni who is doing quite well thus far.

Me too, but when they shopped Dyson around this winter it became clear the front office saw him as Cain's replacement if Starling didn't break out. We won't lose any ground with him as our CF anyway. It's our LF and SS and DH and RF and....and....

Burns lack of arm strength makes him a less-than-ideal CF for KC. He's also been a less-than-stellar defender despite his speed.

I could see them valuing someone acquired via trade more highly. Andrew Stevenson, Austin Fowler, etc.

Depending on what the FO thinks of Mondesi, I'd say SS is our most pressing need. Or LF. If we move Boni or Soler (or insert Dozier) into the DH spot next year, which we need to do, that opens up LF. This assumes Alex quits or moves to 1B for 2018
