-I stated this team setup to make this a make or break year by going all in. I will admit this statement might not have been factual as pointed out by many in here.

-I stated this city is a fairweather baseball city. Attendance is down as one poster stated it will go up once school is out. Were only a few weeks into summer the numbers still suck so at best my statement was incomplete but we can visit it again in September.

- I stated this team should go into sell mode after they dropped a perfect chance at getting back into the race a few weeks ago. This statement was factual and now many of you agree but wont want to admit you agree with me. It has nothing to do with just Duffys injury there are many many flaws with this team.

And with that im out. I have nothing personal against any of you but I hope you can accept this team isnt very good and wont be for awhile.

Have a great day!

It's consistent behavior present over a long period of years. You seem to take glee/joy in sharing hot takes that are negative in slant.

It's not butt hurt. It's annoyance.

You caught fire for the "sell now" take because it was erroneous logic. You were basing it on one 3-game series result and saying it had to happen then.

The logical problem there is that it was 3 of 103 games the Royals will play before the trade deadline. That's less than 3 percent.

So yes, it's a lot different saying something like that in mid-May than after 2 additional weeks of games were played (13 more, 12.6
percent of the "they must decide" sample) and the team's best player was lost to injury for two months.

He's not in Omaha. He's at High-A Wilmington but off to a very exciting start there. Slashing .320/.399/.447. Profiles as an above-average defender and good OBP guy.

I could see him playing 2B and leading off for the Royals a few years down the road. Could be a Joe Panik-type contributor, with a touch more speed.

Yeah I agree, but his defense hasn't taken a step back. You'd think if he was falling apart then we could see it in the field as well?

I think Alex's biggest problem resides inside Alex's head when he steps up to the plate. At least it sure seems that way to me so far this year.

Alcides Escobar is slugging .232, which is bad even for an all-glove/no-hit shortstop. (Tony Pena Jr.'s career slugging percentage is .300; Mark Belanger's was .280; Ray Oyler's was .251.)

Alex Gordon is slugging .209.

SLUGGING. TWO-OH-NINE.

Which is a lot worse than Escobar (and TPJ, and Belanger, and Oyler, and ...). Which is completely unfathomable.

No doubt. He is still an elite Defensive LF'r, which is why he's still in the lineup. But, he's been riding this offensive slump for a year, and he's 33 years old. This isn't good.

Can anyone detect any swing changes that Gordo has made? I can't see a darned thing....which figures given that he's getting the same stinking results. The guy needs to be a late inning defensive replacement only. He can no longer drive the ball. I'm even wondering if he can get the ball over the wall in batting practice.

Last year he hit an embarrassing .220, and now he's struggling to hit .175 with ZERO power. What in the world does it take to make Ned sit this guy?!?!?!?

I understand the reason why he doesn't sit:

1. Highest Paid Player on the Team

2. Still one of the best defensive LF's in the game.

If he would actually take instruction, he should go play a week's worth of games in Omaha or NWA and work on correcting his swing, but that ain't going to happen either.

Bowser 05-30-2017 12:14 PM

Shit, how long did it take Ned to realize that Lorenzo Cain really shouldn't be in 7 hole in the lineup?

penbrook 05-30-2017 12:16 PM

I wish they would move Whit to lead off spot. And Cain is struggling because he's trying to hit a home run everytime. They are pressing a lot

Whit Merrifield - .341 OBP................makes too much sense, especially when you've got a guy with a .206 OBP, you just HAVE TO bat him leadoff.

mr. tegu 05-30-2017 12:28 PM

To me Gordon seems to have been victimized by the shift more than most. He has always pulled a lot of balls to the right side. In 2014 his BABIP for ground balls was .245. This season it is .172. In 2014 he hit .266, right along with his career average. If he was closer to that 2014 ground ball average, he would probably be batting a good 50 points better right now at least.

I'd be good with that, as long as Soler doesn't get subbed into that lineup for Boni. You can't have Moss and Soler in the same lineup. If Soler is playing RF, then Boni should be DH.

Gordon's biggest problem is that he is stubbornly sticking to the same approach despite team's pitching specifically to defeat it.

He refuses to make adjustments. He needs to go back to a more opposite field-driven swing path, like he did in 2011.

Over the past few years, he has become so pull happy. Much more similar to his bad approach when he came up.

I was going to say at least Hosmer goes oppo from time to time (a 2b and a HR just yesterday), I have no idea why Alex doesn't try to just push the ball up the third base line when they have that overshift on for him. Hell, they've been doing that when he's batting with guys on base. No excuse for him to not change his approach, especially in those situations.

I reported Billay for spamming.

I am sorry I ever offered help to him in any way.

I hope he gains 50lbs and remains fat the rest of his sad life.

/The End.
