Hypothetical trade with the Raiders

Would you switch 1s with the Raiders this year in exchange for a switch of 1s next year?

Ebolapox 04-12-2013 09:27 PM

that's it? just a switch of first rounders? hell no. there are NO guarantees. what if disaster struck and everybody major on our team got injured and we finished WORST than they did? you just butt****ed our franchise by making said trade. you NEVER give somebody the chance to ream you like that. **** no.

Mr_Tomahawk 04-12-2013 09:32 PM

Wut

cdcox 04-12-2013 09:32 PM

Not sure if serious? Worst trade in the history of the NFL.

BossChief 04-12-2013 09:44 PM

If they would be dumb enough to do that trade, I'd do it.

The Raiders are gonna be garbage next year...possibly the worst team in football...we will be picking in the low teens to early 20s.

Who wouldn't want to trade 1:1 and 1:18 for 1:3 and 1:2?

RunKC 04-12-2013 09:45 PM

I agree with Boss here.

Round_2014 = Round_2013-1

Time value of draft picks.

I don't think that's entirely relevant here, though...as both of our picks would be devalued for the same reason.

If all we are talking about is swapping picks, this would be a clear "you guys are gonna be garbage next year and I'd love to have your first rounder" type of slap in the face trade.

From a "value to KC" perspective, I'd make that trade.

Id be shocked if Oakland is drafting outside of the top five next year. Look at their roster....on the flip side of the coin, it's gonna take a catastrophe for us to be drafting in the top ten.

I'd make the trade.

In Madden, yes. In real life, nope. What if we ended up the worst team next year too for whatever reason? They'd get the top pick in 2 consecutive drafts. Just not worth it. What would we get out of that trade? A SHOT at a better pick than our own record gives us next year? **** that.

Dude, go look at Oaklands roster.

That team isn't drafting outside the top 5 next year.

Never trade with the Faid... Not an option unless they go full tard and give us unrealistic value.

Dude I agree. But this is the NFL. Even shitty teams can get lucky and go 8 and ****ing 8. It isn't like we're guaranteed to do well either.

BossChief 04-12-2013 10:19 PM

I doubt very highly that we don't get to 8-8 next year.

We don't have the Cassel "anchor" throwing/ fumbling the ball to the other team at a near record pace anymore.

Alex Smith isn't a world beater, but he won't lose games for us, either.

I'd bet almost anything that we have at least 7 wins next year and Oakland has less than 5.

Red And Yellow 04-12-2013 10:21 PM

I'll do this trade next year, not this year with the #1 pick you must be crazy....

Yeah we'd very likely do well if we made the trade. However, if we didn't, we'd look like gigantic ****in idiots, and we've done that enough for my liking. If we trade the #1 pick, regardless of how this draft class is perceived, I'd like to at least get SOMETHING guaranteed in return out of the deal. And I certainly wouldn't want to take the risk of losing something.

FYP

I don't think people really understand just how bad the Raiders will be this year.

The Chiefs have targeted four players this year; they are still guaranteed to get one of them with this trade. I'm willing to bet that they would have a 50/50 chance to land Clowney next year with that trade.

It's funny how many people say we have to roll the dice, but they only want to roll the dice when there is a crappy draft. When there is an opportunity to get a player that the FO likes in this draft and still land a once in a generation player, whoa Nellie, gotta play it safe....

BossChief 04-12-2013 10:42 PM

If we could swing a deal like this and then move down another two times, adding another second and third rounder and end up picking in the late teens this year...we could really own the 2013 draft as well as secure a top 5 pick next year that we could use on a qb if one is "good enough"...if one isn't, Clowney would look good in red n gold.

lcarus 04-12-2013 10:48 PM

I guess I'm just not that confident in gambling on how an NFL season will unfold. Especially considering we could end up cellar dwellers with Oakland. It'd be funny if the trade did occur and we played Oakland the last game of the season, and we were both the worst 2 teams in the NFL. It would be the biggest game between 2 cellar dwellers ever. Gotta win to get that #1 pick lol.

Sweet Daddy Hate 04-12-2013 11:00 PM

Only if we landed the top pick with a Luck or Manning type QB. Apparently that just isn't in the damn cards for us though. Hell, they'd probably take a tackle then too, directly after trading for another teams backup QB.

Of course they would take the fatty. Every ****ing time. Go ahead and insert whichever can't miss, unquestioned QB prospect ever to come down the pike in to that scenario. The Chiefs would pass on him and have the full blessing of Lil Chiefy Idiot Fan all day long.

I have little doubt Oakland finishs any better than 3-13. They are going to be absolutely horrible.

AussieChiefsFan 04-13-2013 01:59 AM

If we were definitely going to finish next season with a great record, then we could rely on the Raiders amount of suckage. But we can't count out that we may suck just as hard. So no.

And if they do finish behind them, I'm sure you'll drum up several fine excuses as to why so. Here, I'll start for you:

Time value has almost no relevance here if you accept the idea that you'll be as happy with the 3rd pick in this draft as you are with the first. I think the Chiefs are in that position here, particularly if it's Oakland and Jacksonville ahead of us.
