Early in. Go for 10! Kyle Davies, God help us please.

alnorth 08-02-2013 10:25 AM

Its been 19 years since our last 10-game winning streak, and we are going for #10 with.... Davis. And Butler is relegated to ph duty.

Well, who knows, the Mets aren't a great team.

ptlyon 08-02-2013 10:27 AM

I wish Brett would do his administrative duties and Nancy Carrigan that mother****er

Dillon Gee is hittable as well.

Strongside 08-02-2013 10:36 AM

Maxwell will homer tonight. Book it.

Strongside 08-02-2013 10:36 AM

If he is in the lineup, that is.

RealSNR 08-02-2013 10:40 AM

I hope we keep the fire going. I don't want to see a sloppily played game with the excuse that, "They've done a lot of good work. These games will happen."

Sloppy play DOESN'T have to happen. It would be nice if we could make up at least ONE game in the division standings throughout this freakin' winning streak. Let's see it happen tonight, maybe.

Gee is a RHP, so I'm not sure why he'd be in the lineup. But Ned marches to his own beat

Ceej 08-02-2013 10:44 AM

In for 10.

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 10:48 AM

I'd love to see us start making up games on the teams in front of us, but I'm still more interested in how we're playing. If we keep playing at a high level, the other teams will come back to us.

Just keep winning.

In for the win.

CoMoChief 08-02-2013 11:00 AM

I just don't understand why Davis isn't in the pen. There's no reason to keep trotting him out there as a stater. When does Duffy come back? What's the definition of insanity again....doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results? That's the same kind shit that kept Frenchy a Royal much longer than he really needed to be. I hope to God we can keep this up. I've been waiting for October baseball for a long ****ing time in KC, hated always having to watch ****ing STL.

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 11:04 AM

I'm nervous about Davis, too. But he did pitch much better against the White Sox in his last outing.

What's encouraging is that we have three good options at AAA (Duffy, Ventura, and Dwyer) should Davis soil himself again.

That's because it was the White Sox. They've scored less runs than than the Royals pedestrian offense... and have played more games.

gblowfish 08-02-2013 11:25 AM

I'm going to optimistically say, that one thing Wade Davies may have going for him tonight is the Mets haven't seen him before, or seen him in a very long time. So he may be able to sneak past their order at least once before they get onto him. Hopefully our guys can scratch out a run or two before that happens.

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 11:28 AM

Can Billy pitch? That way he can hit, too.

Archie F. Swin 08-02-2013 11:37 AM

I'm hoping for a miracle!

DeezNutz 08-02-2013 12:37 PM

Should be the same approach as last time out for Davies. At the very slightest suggestion of trouble, Mendoza needs to get out.

If Yost doesn't do this, he's clueless.

Tring to figure out the difference between Mendoza and Kyle Davies is, lately.

DeezNutz 08-02-2013 01:08 PM

Mendoza has indeed been shitty, but he's been dog shit to Davies' cat shit.

Really, it's time for Duffy.

I seriously doubt Moore will pull the trigger on Davies without 2 or 3 more bad starts. If anything, he will pull Chen the first time he gives up more than 2 runs.

I guarantee if someone asked Moore why Duffy is still in the minors, he would say “we are lucky enough to not need him right now, all of our starters have been great”.

Why are we discussing a Twins minor league pitcher?

#Royals vs. NYM RHP Gee: Gordon 7, Hosmer 3, Perez 2, Moustakas 5, Lough 9, Escobar 6, Johnson 4, Dyson 8 and Davis 1.

Come on Yost. No Cain or Tejada

Gotta have some pop off the bench for an inevitable PH situation.

****ing idiotic to be playing anyone but Tejada at 2nd at this point. The other options have proven time and again that they can't hack it.

jbwm89 08-02-2013 02:06 PM

Not trying to be a Yost apologist, but Tejeda is probably going to need a day off every once in a while. He is 39.

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 02:13 PM

Hopefully the Royals' advance team turned the visiting clubhouse into an exact replica of the Trop so Eliot Johnson can do SOMETHING this game. He's just been awful at the plate.

Wonder if Cain's ok.

ChiefsCountry 08-02-2013 02:28 PM

Remember we have queer NL rules tonight so we got to have bench players and switcheroos tonight.

DeezNutz 08-02-2013 02:31 PM

8-man lineup should help Davies. And I expect Holland really to struggle should he get to bring his weak stuff into the game in the late innings.

No it's a pure game that way!

And way more boring too!

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 05:02 PM

Weird thought, but I'll post it.

How many plays on average is the RF involved in? 3? 4? 5? 2 or 3 of them are probably base hits, 1 or 2 might be a routine fly ball, and then 1 might take athleticism to make.

Wouldn't it be worth it to get 4 Billy Butler at bats opposed to risking the 1-2 defensive liabilities?

Maybe not, or maybe Hosmer could go there and be fine, although I prefer not to disrupt 2 positions instead of just 1.

I suppose this is just the fatass DH tax we have to pay.

I'm challenging the assertion that he or anyone of MLB quality would cost a game when you consider the cost of losing his 4-5 at bats.

And you did say that NL baseball is boring. Wouldn't that spice it up? :D

If we were, God forbid, an NL team, then Butler would be 1B, and Hosmer would have to learn RF.

Certainly. And really, you probably would find a suitor in the AL to get more versatile players.

I'm just looking at a short-term, 3 game series solution.

If I were the manager, I would have had Hosmer work on RF in the spring, and start him there every once in a while during the season to keep him fresh in RF so that both could play at NL parks.

1st inning

Top 1st

Gordon flies out to left
Hosmer grounds out to pitcher
Perez strikes out (swinging)

0 runs, 0 hits

Bottom 1st

Young pops out to shortstop
Lagares singles to right
Wright homers to left, Lagares scores
Byrd flies out to right
Murphy grounds out to third

2 runs, 2 hits

CaliforniaChief 08-02-2013 05:17 PM
