Released Roy miller or whoever yesterday. Sounds like a championship move right there.
BAM

Direckshun 11-14-2017 09:39 AM

Cam Thomas, for what it's worth, looked outstanding in training camp.

Considering we're only going to use him for 12% of the snaps, we should be fine.

Dayze 11-14-2017 09:44 AM

how is he in coverage?

Simply Red 11-14-2017 09:44 AM

For just ONCE, I'd be nice to see us sign a player and not see immediate wise-ass responses (mostly due to the fact they're 'nobody' players.)

Rain Man 11-14-2017 09:47 AM

I expect him to be a vital cam in the defensive engine.

NFL Combine page

Quote:

OVERVIEW
A two year starter for the Tar Heels, Thomas primarily was a run stopper in the Carolina defense. He has a huge body but lacks great quickness, lateral agility and speed. He rarely makes a play out of the tackle box and appears to lack conditioning throughout the contest. He isn't an explosive player but is tough to get movement on when defending the run. He lacks an expanded pass-rush package and only flashes the ability to push the pocket when bull rushing. He is an inconsistent reactor as blocking schemes unfold and needs to improve in this phase of the game. Thomas is clearly a two-down player who could be limited as a nose tackle at the next level, but players with his size and strength are hard to find.

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS
Possesses ideal height and is thickly built. Fires low off the ball to get good leverage and has a wide base which makes him difficult to move. Engages quickly with his arms and drives opponents backward, making him an effective bull rusher.

WEAKNESSES
Lacks good initial quickness. Despite his size he does not possess the explosive power to consistently collapse the pocket. Does not have the lateral agility and range to make plays in space. Gets winded easily and loses effectiveness. Slow to react and follow plays making him susceptible to screen passes.

Dayze 11-14-2017 10:16 AM

sounds like just a body to stand there and occupy people while he gets pushed out of the way. lol.

good gig if you can get it.

This move probably doesn't matter much anyway. He replaces Roy Miller. What exactly has Miller done this year on the field? I like the move. But mainly because the team did the right thing in releasing Miller. Veach is showing the team that domestic violence will not be tolerated on this team. Thomas was in camp, so he knows the_efense, I mean defense. I would have rather seen a young prospect brought up off of someone's practice squad, but this works.

Details have emerged and Roy Miller did assault his wife in which she had a "Nicole Miller also had a small abrasion on her face and a scratch on the back of her neck." Veatch was right to move as soon as the facts were in.

Could have done better

Sutton's exotic blitzes are gone and now he only calls 4 man rushes, yet this is the move the Chiefs GM makes??

I think they could have done so much better and picked up someone with a skill set for a 4 man rush.

Missed opportunity IMO.

I remember when the majority of CP was clamoring to draft Cam Thomas and I was happy when the Chargers got him in the 5th round. Then I watched him play...
I'm surprised he's still getting work in the NFL.

None of these names say anything to me, but I guess I'm just used to Dorsey always bringing in guys with high ceilings for our coaching staff to coach up. The Chiefs young GM is much more risk adverse.

Thats the whole reason this defense is in the situation its currently in being a complete turnstile. Dorsey signed too many of those no name high ceilings rather than the known comodity or steady vet and those no namers are pretty much all stinking it up.

Benny Logan, Jarvis Jenkins, Cam Thomas were all known commodities and signed in the off season by Dorsey. In hindsight none of these signing seem to fit the scheme Sutton has been employing, which is why I think that getting player now that could potentially fit the 4 man rush attack better would have been a better (Dorsey-type) move by Veech.

Anyone who says "WHO?" should be slapped. The guy played on one of our rivals for several years and we saw him play.

Kinda just shows either a lack of knowledge about the game of football, or an ineptness about knowing who the team plays twice a year.

Do you ever look at snap counts for the d-line?

They rotate like crazy. It's CB and S that never come off the field.
