What if the Chiefs draft a QB #1?

Do they get the best of the crop and put him right into the position or do they let him sit and season?

History tells us that the franchise sits him, watching other teams with QB picks it seems there has been some success in the QB transitioning to the NFL better than ever in the past.

With the new cap on draftees it would be a no loss situation if you get what is expected to be an immediate help to the team and he turns out to be a bust, you get another high round pick the following year and haven't lost the high dollars as teams could in the past.

Will the Chiefs win enough games the rest of the year to remove their chance at drafting #1?

Draft the best QB on the board and start him game 1. It's the only option for this team

You don't just throw him in to the fire if he isn't ready. You draft him hoping he is, but you simply don't know until you see him in OTA's, training camp, and preseason. You bring in some decent competition, maybe Alex Smith like many have mentioned.

If you draft a QB number 1, he starts.

Dear god Corkey. I hope you strapped your helmet on tight today

People don't understand that Alex Smith is Matt Cassel.

They are coached as GAME MANAGER QB's.

I do not want to see another Game manager style QB until I get sick of seeing a QB that plays on the offense, scaring defenses by throwing downfield, audibling at the los into a non scripted play that is NOT called by a douchey OC who can't even work a Madden game. A QB who can look off covered receivers and find a way to buy time until someone gets open. Someone who can put the team on his back on a bad day and lead the team to a victory over another playoff caliber team. A QB that doesn't checkdown every play when we need a first down, and blame his teammates during a press conference because he thinks he graded out perfectly.

QB's need to be cycled through this organization until the one that fits this mold is found.

Bringing in Alex ****ing Smith or any other brokedick backup that we already know about is continuing to move backwards.

Play Stanzi, if he sucks... cut him.
Draft Geno, if he sucks... cut him.
Draft another guy, if he sucks... cut him.
and so on...

Eventually we will land a kid who can play the game.
Cutting a QB each year is more success than trying to polish a fucking turd for 4 years like they tried with Matt Cassel.

If Geno, Tyler, or Barkley are drafted, they will start simply by being better.

Even if it is close, they need to start. This isn't a situation like the Texans w/ David Carr. Geno has adequate weapons, a above average OL, and quality RB in Charles to lean on.

KC is one of the better situations for a rookie QB to come in and start in recent memory.

If Pioli is here, I'm not convinced he doesn't trade down for a QB like Tyler Wilson or worse, go after a second tier prospect like Glennon.

I'm not convinced he will start a rookie either, especially if Quinn has an average finish to the season.

Pioli has only one way of doing things. And just when we think he gets that he has to do something different, he goes back to the Patriot Way. Which is that you don't draft QBs in the first round and you don't start QBs in the first year.

We are forever doomed to suck.

I think I remember Troy Aikman starting as a rookie for Dallas. They went 1-15. How many times after that did they back into the Super Bowl? I won't say that's the solution to the Chiefs problems, but I'd give it a shot if I was an owner/GM/HC. Could we possibly be worse taking that approach?

Start him if he earns the job. Which you expect him to do. But if he comes in and blows chunks all offseason, you don't just throw him out there. Don't even think about rewarding failure.
