Looming retirement

So the Mrs and I have set a march 1st date for me to hang up my pipewrench for good. In preparation, I bought a set of Callaway golf clubs. I haven't played in 20 years so I didn't break the bank on a set of Taylor made, but these are a nice starter set.

I live in a golf community, so I loaded up the club's and headed to their driving range to hack at some balls.

A couple of observations from today.

1. I like the feel of the new clubs and they performed well.

2. I may out of shape even though I have a physical job.

3. I need a lot more time on the range before I hit the course.

I'm looking forward to being able to finally spend more time on a hobby that I have always enjoyed but couldn't really pursue because of the demands of the job, family etc.

Play enough to get comfortable, then get yourself fitted once you opt for the next set. Never pay full retail for Taylor Made, as their product life cycle is so short that your clubs hemorrhage value. Ping, Mizuno, and Titleist clubs hold value the best outside of boutique brands like Honma, PXG, or Miura.

Solid advice, thanks. I've always heard Taylor Made were top of the line and considered getting a set until I saw how much they are. To steep for my blood at this point

That’s pretty damn young to retire. Sounds great.

Crap. I am almost 50 and still looking at 7-10 years of teaching. Ugh.

Good for you! Seriously! Ping Eye 2 are nice irons.

I'm gonna die on a ladder.

Congrats on getting to retire at 50. My Pops got to retire at 55 from the Military.
Me? I'll never get to retire.

Thanks guys. I figured I'd work myself to the grave, but the Mrs has been putting in a crazy amount of work building her business to make it possible for me to make the move.

She wants a house husband and I'm happy to oblige :)

Congrats, friend.

I'm pretty sure I'll be late to the funeral to get that last field done.

I’m glad I got a twenty year letter from the military yay!!!!!
