NFL Combine thread

We need a place to discuss things like Chance Warmack only weighing 317lbs.

Pablo 02-21-2013 08:57 AM

NFLN for coverage, correct?

KCrockaholic 02-21-2013 08:58 AM

Si. Although right now twitter is more on top of it.

Today is weigh ins.

KCrockaholic 02-21-2013 09:09 AM

Meh NFLN is kinda worthless right now. Got that NFL AM show on and all they want to talk about it Revis and Shermans little pissy match.

Twitter is the way to go for now.

Pablo 02-21-2013 09:12 AM

Yeah. I watched a couple of minutes of NFL AM; didn't care about their discussions.

Guess it's time to play a little 360 on this shit day.

Seems people are a little disappointed with Warmacks weight in.

Nightfyre 02-21-2013 10:07 AM

317 is a little light for a power guard, and you know he's probably as big as he has ever been. I don't think it would affect my evaluation of him, however.

O.city 02-21-2013 10:25 AM

I don't knwo a whole hell of alot about OL, but would Warmack fit a ZBS?

Cue the "KC to draft Warmack and convert him to a LT" line.

chiefscafan 02-21-2013 10:50 AM

Lol wamack is awesome but not a LT baring injury he is potential all pro guard. Still don't draft him number one. If you wanna go that route we should talk to rams and get their 16th and 23rd pick.

chiefscafan 02-21-2013 10:52 AM

We really need geno to go off in this combine. One it makes him viable for our pick. Two it makes someone that will fall in love with him and trade us multiple picks.

boogblaster 02-21-2013 10:58 AM

no too geno .. sorry folks .....

If he's a viable pick for us, why is #2 even relevant?

Throw in one of their two firsts next year, and this is a trade down scenario that might work for me... especially if all of the pundits are right about the QB situation.

And before I get flamed... I said might.

@DannyParkins: Mort put the #Chiefs trading for Nick Foles at "50/50" and assumed it would take a 3rd round pick.

Also said, The Niners aren't releasing Smith. They only have about $9.5M tied up in their QB's so they can afford to wait for a trade suitor.

Mort also said he for one hasn't completely ruled out the idea of the Chiefs drafting Geno with the first pick.

DTLB58 02-21-2013 01:04 PM

Andy Reid will be on the set on NFLN today sometime on their show from 1-3 CST. I'll post if I hear more. Home watching.

We spent 1/3 of our draft on linemen last year plus our big name FA was a RT. We really don't have much of a need...

RunKC 02-21-2013 05:05 PM

Just heard DeAndre Hopkins ran a 4.48 this year at Clemson and hopes to get closer to 4.4.

God I hope he doesn't break 4.4. That happens and he's a first round pick.

Read today reason for Jones not participating is they were afraid his measurables and his workout numbers wouldn't impress.

Talk about a copout.

You believe that? You believe people in his camp leaked out that he wouldn't impress? Or, do you think the rumor more likely came from teams sitting down in the draft who are doing everything possible to try to get a player to drop?

I believe he's being rated alot higher by the media than most teams already have him rated, paired with the fact that he has a serious medical concern, he's already going to go lower than people expect.

Not sure he needs any other reasons to drop and skipping the combine isn't helping him much.

Did you hear Eisen when Warmack was doing the long jump?

I posted it in another thread but it warrants repeating.

Quote:

Rich Eisen just TOTALLY slammed Mayock.

Chance Warmack is doing the long jump and Eisen says "so THIS is the guy the Chiefs are going to take #1 overall?" in a REALLY sarcastic tone.

Mayock tries to defend himself and Eisen says "there's no consensus QB and after looking at all the other positions, they're going to take a GUARD?"

Bob Dole 02-23-2013 10:17 AM

Bob Dole wants to see Terron Armstead pulling to block for JC, just once.

heh, yea i caught that. What a joke. I dont get why these guys just cant come clean and be honest. He should say something like "I think Womack is the best player in this draft, but realistically, no team is going to take a Guard at #1"

Hes doing a dis service to his audience IMO.

I heard it. I'm just still baffled they allowed such a joke to be part of the commentating group. Regardless if he's done it for years.

htismaqe 02-23-2013 10:26 AM

It was funny to hear Brian Billick after that, totally patronizing Mayock - "you're one of the best in the business, I really mean that, but..."

ROFL

htismaqe 02-23-2013 10:28 AM

Eisen is STILL going. ROFL

As Warmack is finishing his 40, Eisen says "In the common era, no guard has ever gone #1 overall. The highest they've ever gone is #3."

And EVERY guy he listed was in the ****ing 1970's!

ROFL

Deberg_1990 02-23-2013 10:28 AM

Now hes trying to backpedal on Womack just a tad after Eisen is basically calling him out and Womacks run times were slow. ROFL

"This is who he is...hes a lineman"

Well no sh*t dumbass

I wondered if anyone else noticed that. They were also letting them 'bounce' the bar by rebounding it off their chests.

They were letting guys get away with absolute shit form, and this is from someone that knows nothing more about lifting than what I was taught 15 years ago by a HS football coach.

Form was extremely important during my junior high and high school days, and it's something that's important when lifting today.

It was crazy when I went off to college and saw all these guys "squat" 315, yet their form was complete shit: They were using their backs, not breaking 90, etc. And the guys that bounced the bar off their chests and used their legs were even more abundant.

All that said, I'm really shocked that the NFL allowed those lifts. They would not have counted at my high school so it's shocking it's allowed at the Combines.

Some of the TE's were impressive. I don't know if any of the better TE's will be around with the #34 (Ertz and Eifert) but if so, I hope that Reid and Dorsey think long and hard about both (or either).

DJ's left nut 02-23-2013 01:16 PM

Eifert looked damn good. Not only were the results strong, but he made it look easy. The shadow-cam of him and Ertz both running the 40 was interesting, Eifert looked like he was cruising as he was pulling away while Ertz appeared to be struggling for the time. It just made Eifert look like a much more natural athlete.

I think he locked up a pick in the early 20s. Ertz looked solid, but I don't think he's a 'value' pick at 34 so I'd probably go with a DB still at that pick.

SAUTO 02-23-2013 01:16 PM
