Fun fact: Tharpe held Burke to 4 points while others gave up 17. Why Releford wasn't on him late or in OT ill never know.

Yeah in the grand scheme of life this one is a killer.........comparable to testicular cancer and earthquakes in the Far East. I'm not piling on KU fans tonight because that was just brutal, but lets get a grip dude.

no. We were up 3. A foul there would have been great (much better than a 3 by Burke obviously).

I was screaming for the foul. Too many times now, the 3 is hit, and coaches second guess themselves (ask coach cal)

The foul was off the ball as the shot was headed in the basket so the basket would have counted and since Michigan was in the double bonus they would had 2 FTs to attempt to take the lead with 4 secs left in regulation.

Tough loss. Perhaps the toughest to deal with from a fan perspective since the UNI loss in 2010. This team wasn't anywhere near as good as that one and almost assuredly wouldn't have won a national championship anyway even if they had won tonight. But the way they gave the game away after completely dominating it for so long was pretty devastating. They did everything right for almost its entirety and then started playing not to lose with about five minutes left. We've seen this team have those stretches throughout the year when trying to close out games (and usually they ended up winning anyway). We saw it again tonight and the difference was Trey Burke was ready to take advantage of their mistakes.

I feel awful for EJ. He cared so much and did so much for this program (131 career wins, 4 B12 titles, a national finals appearance) over his time in Lawrence, so it's a shame that his KU legacy has to end like this. They rode with him for good or bad over the last two seasons (often to great success), but tonight we saw the bad.

Good season overall certainly, but the finish of this one will always leave a bitter taste. Most seasons do in the end, I suppose.

I always hate the morning after a loss like that because I have to figure out when I wake up whether it happened or I dreamed it. I actually had a pretty vivid dream the night before the WKU game that KU had won the National Title. It was a pretty emotional dream. Just my deepest desires trying to become reality I guess. But anyway, once I figured out that it actually happened last night, all I could think about was, "we had it won." At least if it were a back and forth game or KU played like shit all game, I could have prepared myself for the loss. As it was, I was still nervous because as we know too well anything can happen (and did). Still I was feeling pretty assured up double digits with 2 minutes left and the way Michigan had played all game long.

I dont. I feel bad when things don't go your way when you play your ass off. I don't feel bad when you do stupid things on the court over and over and over again.

A game hurts like this so bad because it was a great matchup, 2 really good teams, and Kansas came out stormin and took control for the entire game until late. It's one of those games where you don't know how you lost it, but you did...and it was a Senior driven team that set some records and was all year round one of the teams expected to make the Final 4.

Then before you know it, your team doesn't go in for the kill, the opponent comes back because Self is crazy conservative in the tournament and eventually you'll see a prayer 3 go in from the other team, and once that happens the wind is completely taken out of your sails. You knew this team was gonna lose once Burke hit that prayer.

Fansy the Famous Bard 03-30-2013 07:55 AM

KU was a better team with Johnson on the bench. This is one of the first times that I can remember where I put that on Self.

He didn't do squat for KU with the exception of a good March run last year. He had one good game this year vs ISU and he was an abysmal wreck the entire rest of the games. He singlehandedly axe-murdered a runaway win last night in a year where the tourney was definitely winnable. Eff him, I hope he never comes back to KU in any form esp after the nut-shot to McGary.

EJ didn't even hardly play his first two years so the 131 wins thing is basically nonsense. We would've won 28 games this year without him anyway.

Oh, it must have sucked to lose like that. In the Sweet Sixteen, no less!

... *cries forever*

I felt bad for Sherron Collins going out against Northern Iowa, even though he's got a championship ring.

I don't feel sorry for that skittish dumbass EJ. Not one bit.

It's pretty obvious EJ played his ass off both yesterday and throughout his KU career. If anything yesterday, he cared too much and let the pressure get to him. But I'm not going to waste my time convincing the jackasses of this fanbase of his value to the team (which Self knew over the last two years) or not hating him over some mistakes on the court.
