I'm as interested in "getting by" as I am in the Chiefs W/L record the rest of 2012.

We can "get by" with the guys we have and in the process secure a shiny #1 overall pick for the new regime.

It seems that a lot of people have elected to ignore or avoid this sad truth, but Mr. BlackBob may have been correct.

I'm 100% convinced that Pioli is emotionally disturbed. Sunday removed all lingering doubt.

He's nuts, man. There's reality and then there's the stuff rattling around in Pioli's skull.

Seems he's more interested in things other than football right now.

Great job SOC. We got him on the ropes.

No argument there.

So I don't know alot about the structure of the things around Pioli, but say he is fired. What all do you do? Who all is getting replaced?

Obviously you will need a new HC, OC, DC etc.

But what else will be replaced?

Everyone from Pioli down.

The difference is that there are viable candidates to talk to right now, and this is what Clark should be doing. Target #1 should be--get ready with the pitchforks--Bill Cowher. Why? This franchise needs to be legitimized, and The Chin does this immediately.

Get Cowher in the wings. Work with him to find an appropriate match for GM and college scouting, and then focus in on trying to identify the franchise's next QB, which is the foundation.

In terms of PR, which is turning the situation in KC highly toxic, Pioli cannot be allowed to finish the season. He's made the situation completely untenable, and this might have more far-reaching effects than simply pissing off the fans.

I agree and have said as much more than just a few times.

I wonder if Gailey would be open to returning as BCs offensive coordinator if he gets the axe in Buffalo.

Cowher immediately improves the defense by running the exact scheme these guys are made for and could win quickly with a qb like Geno Smith.

The entire scouting department for one, which Pioli gutted and replaced with a bunch of yes-men instead of actual scouts.

When/if he gets the axe, I wouldn't mind bringing in Rex as the DC.

The history of the NFL is littered with guys that failed because they inherited a bad situation.

The new guy needs to be able to make a clean break, in January.

Think with your head, not your heart.

I'm not asking to have a new GM in place now. Currently, there's zero leadership from Pioli, and thus ridding the organization of him will not negatively affect the team's performance or organizational operations.

There are only positives because firing Pioli would truly "change the culture" and return the team to the fans.

No thanks.

I'd rather have a traditional OC that can develop QBs rather than an unconventional OC that can develop gimmicks...

So you're suggesting that Hunt fire him and just leave the front office VACANT?

That doesn't make any sense.

EVERY person at 1 Arrowhead Drive is a Pioli lackey. EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

So the only way you TRULY get rid of him is to fire EVERYONE and get somebody from outside of the organization. And that person gets to start their stint as GM by losing 6 straight to end the season. That's borderline reeruned, I'm sorry.

This idea that you fire Pioli and "return the team to the fans" makes for a great Lifetime movie but it isn't grounded real firmly in reality.

DeezNutz 11-19-2012 01:18 PM

We can't bring back coaches who are already heavy with the stench of KC losses.

If Pioli is fired today, you don't need to hire a new GM tomorrow. You can, however, start talking to candidates. Find out who may or may not be interested.

There is no upside to keeping Pioli. There is nothing he is going to contribute. You don't have to clean house until after the last game, but everyone in the front office and coaching staff will know they are out. That is just an added bonus for us, who among this staff is going to try to win when they know they won't have a job in January?
