Abrams Phantasm -

Since its release in 1979, director Don Coscarelli‘s epic tale of The Tall Man, his deadly silver Sentinel Spheres, and the group of small town friends who must band together to stop his dimension-hopping schemes has captivated and terrified horror and sci-fi fans around the world. An immediate success, bringing in 40 times its production budget, the film has influenced generations of filmmakers. Thirty-seven years later, PHANTASM has been finally restored to its original glory by J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot and Coscarelli, with a stunning new remaster and 5.1 surround sound mix from the original elements that ensures Phantasm will be around to scare the hell out of generations to come.

Ah I see, it isnt a remake, its a remaster

That special looks really good... genuine satanists can unleash some powerful forces, its nothing to **** with

Agreed, just a few changes and it could've went from good to great

SPOILERS BELOW FOR ANYONE PLANNING TO WATCH

Just googled a few things on it... Markhams character was originally written as being an old god in human form, there to make sure the Dagmar demons were satisfied. But they apparently settled on him being a local that takes it upon himself to make sure the Dagmars get their family, lest the evil come into town

The ending wasnt explained quite as well, the best I could find is that Bobby followed the mom and dad there and was the reason they were spared

It wasnt bad at all for a B movie

Is this something that can be found on youtube?

I'm fascinated/horrified by serious occult practitioners, and what they're capable of bringing into our world

It's short on scares and very very long on faux retro commercials.

no it's hard to find - I don't even think it's on Hulu or Netflix - I can get you a link but it's totally illegal. :/

I'd be curious to understand what exactly JJ did to the old movie to update it without reshooting the whole thing. Did he change the effects or something? I bet Dane my know. Little more about it, but I don't think he comes in this thread.

just effects (clean ups) - even audio.
