That 17 eclipse was really cool. What got me were the weird bubble shadows and the eerie stillness of it. I can only imagine what it would have been like thousands of years ago before science could explain these things. Understandable how people collectively lost their shit.

Ya, if it blew my mind, I can't imagine 1000 yrs ago. Additionally, Haleys' Comet blew it as well.

The French Bayeux Tapestry, which illustrates the Hastings battle field in 1066 where William the Conqueror invaded England, has Haleys' Comet across the sky.

I had read about the largesse of a total that I put out signs on our small highways in all four directions to come to my land (10 acres) to camp and view. I bought a bunch of sunglasses, hamburger makings and other foods items. My wife and daughter laughed at me.

I had 10 RV's camp in my back 40. I made +$1,500 through sales that day. I didn't say "I told you so" to my wife and daughter but I could see I didn't have too. My IQ shot up 20 points from that day.

If you have a chance to travel a bit to view the Totality, do it. It is one of those memories burnt into you for life.

I was just outside of Lathrop. We got clouded out. Still bummed.
But I do have video of the totality happening. I will agree that is a great experience.

I'll be in my backyard, smoking a spliff, listening to the Dark Side of the Moon.

I considered traveling from CA to the path of totality, but was concerned that I would pay for the flight, hotel, etc. only to have the place I chose be under cloud cover during the eclipse. Looks hit or miss today.

Imagine a fleet of fully autonomous drones that can recharge themselves any time they need.

Electric companies will likely pass on the costs of the "free" electricity to consumers, even though that electricity was never going to be used anyway.

They will need their own drones, to monitor for rogue energy-stealing drones. And so starts the drone wars...
