So it's some kind of alien conspiracy thing or what?

On a related note - with enough photoshoping, Winona is still highly doable:

No.

Not even in her PRIME was she every anything approaching attractive.

She was a cancerous-wart on the ass of a pre-emo director and that is the ONLY reason she's talked about...

Baby Lee 07-15-2016 09:02 AM

Was just about to ask about this. Anyone dug in yet.
Intrigued, but already way behind on a lot of stuff I'm fairly sure I'll enjoy [still 2 seasons behind on OitNB and Ray Donovan for instance].

unlurking 07-15-2016 09:34 AM

Same boat here, haven't gotten to Marco Polo S2 yet either. Got sidetracked by Happy-ish which I absolutely love. Hope Netflix considers picking it up for a second season. Probably pretty cheap compared to their other shows.

Also Heathers and Reality Bites.

Buck 07-17-2016 06:00 AM

Watched first episode. It was great.

Also that main kid's sister is so damn pretty I couldn't believe it. I checked Google and she's 19. Phew.

ohiobronco2 07-17-2016 07:14 AM

I watched the complete first season over the last few days. I thought it was excellent.

Buck 07-17-2016 07:56 AM

Just started episode 3 and what the ****? I'm hooked. Will probably marathon all episodes today.

Baby Lee 07-17-2016 08:00 AM

Went with HarmonQuest instead. Not regretting it yet. Funny, light, breezy, silly. Just an all around blast.

It sucks that there are only 8 episodes. That is my only real complaint. You definitely feel the Spielberg and Carpenter influence in this show.

Just finished episode 3. At this rate it doesn't matter if there are only 8. This shit is so good and intense and it's a mind ****. I think I get what's happening, I just don't get how. I am 100% for sure finishing this thing today.

Buck 07-17-2016 10:15 PM

Just finished as well. So ****ing good. That shit is going to earn some Emmys.

WhiteWhale 07-18-2016 05:56 AM

Clever show. IT's set in the 80's. Has an 80's style score (very synth). Even the intro is done in 80's style graphics.

Combine that with 8 episodes = 8 hours and it reminds me of those old miniseries' from the 80's.

Very cool aesthetic.

Plus, a few of the kids do a really good job, and kids generally suck at acting.

Yea. Love the retro score. It does feel like a miniseries from the 80s. But there are a lot of influences. Spielberg, Carpenter, etc.

I'm only on episode 5, but so far is very entertaining

Kiimo 07-18-2016 12:30 PM

This was freaking outstanding and made me miss 1983 in a huge way.

keg in kc 07-18-2016 04:13 PM

Up to episode 6. They nailed it. Reminds me of being blindsided by Mr robot last summer. A month and a half ago I had no idea this even existed.

Lots of influences, but totally original. Nice to see in this era of remakes and 'reimaginings' that we're currently in.

Yeah, the number of classic horror posters that pop up in the backgrond caught my attention.

Kiimo 07-19-2016 11:52 AM

Read this when you're done. Season 2 won't be an anthology, it will continue the story. Love it.

Reminded me very much of the 80's.

Just like King It was awesome until the end...

Fansy the Famous Bard 07-20-2016 04:08 PM

Have watched 4 of the 8 episodes, and this show is really, really good.

Fish 07-20-2016 09:30 PM

I blasted through all 8 episodes in one day. I'm on vacation........

Pretty bad ass. A few confusing moments and clunky writing here and there. But the kid actors/actresses have been great so far. Love how they've nailed the 80's theme. Can't wait to see where they take this...

Deberg_1990 07-20-2016 10:36 PM

On episode 6. Holy crap, now I see 'Altered states' influences. The old trippy William hurt LSD flick. Awesome stuff!

Silock 07-21-2016 03:06 AM

There's some colorful language at times and little ones might find the monster scary.

Id say over 12 at least.

Don't say that, I'm caught up on Night of and am admiring but not overwhelmed. It's a competent procedural, but sad to hear that Stranger Things is lesser.

Well it's really early - plus I'm a huge John Turturro fan. Please watch for yourself - neither is 'running away' from either series as far as how well they were done - if that makes you feel any better - also - totally just my opinion.

kepp 07-22-2016 02:21 PM

Kids should be scared once in a while. Poltergeist screwed me up royally. I would never give up that experience. I saw Jaws when I was five though, that...that I don't recommend. I wouldn't even go near my older brother's waterbed.

In hindsight that was probably a good idea.

I binged it in 2 nights last weekend. Completely wasn't expecting how much I'd enjoy it Particularity for something that just popped up on Netfix that Friday that I had vaguely heard about a few days earlier.

Stranger Things (Netflix)...

Ryder is doing a good job, too. Can't be easy acting to a wad of Christmas lights.

Thank you for not beating me up - I believe you and will totally watch the other 5. Look I really like A LOT about it. But I'm not grasping the story - at least as much as the others. It'll come I'd imagine - I'll fire it up again this week. I'm currently watching Pet Sematary. ROFL

I'm also surprised that you would say "lack of story." In my opinion there are multiple good story threads running through the show so far and I just finished episode four. It has a Fringe/X-Files feel to it for me which is kind of fun in the early 80's setting. So many 80's references in there that you can't really list them all. And I did chuckle when MKULTRA popped up on that microfiche screen.

ModSocks 07-27-2016 09:59 AM

Love this show so far. Just finished episode 6 last night, will finish the season tonight. I had to fight with my wife to get her to watch it, but now she's hooked.

Once I got onto the middle episodes, I couldn't stop. I ended up staying up way later than I normally do because they kept ending episodes on cliffhangers. I watched ep. 1 on one night, then binged the rest of the series on the second.
