If an ACC team does not completely run the table and go 11-0, especially after Pitt and Syracuse comes in to further trash their SOS, then they are very heavily disadvantaged for playoff spots.

Sure, an ACC team in a given year might be good enough to be a national champ just like Utah may have been years ago or Boise State a year or two ago or whoever may have been whatever years ago, but if their SOS sucks, we'll never find out because they will not be picked.

I don't buy that it is static like this, and I don't think you have any data that can prove it.

I have no doubt that a 1 loss FSU would trump a 1 loss team from the Big 12 if it was, say, Texas Tech or Kansas State. Prestige and brand is usually the tie-breaker, which FSU will have in the ACC or Big 12.

Computers do not vote for "prestige" or "brand"

You apparently haven't heard the news about the 13-year grant of rights.

Exactly. Both the ACC and Big XII have two traditional powers, a few teams that can be good in spurts, and a bunch of filler. Right now, both Texas and Miami are down while Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech are strong.

You are making it far too simple. You can't take 2 teams from each and compare them, without considering the pile of crap in the ACC.

Here's what a good Big 12 school might have weighing them down right now on SOS.

Kansas (destroyed by Gill, big multi-year salvage project coming)
Iowa State (though supposedly on an upswing)

Thats about it, isn't it? Even Baylor's improved. Everyone else either wont hurt you or is an asset.

Now, pull up the ACC roster, add Syracuse and Pitt, and after you stop gagging at the sheer magnitude of football suck, imagine what that'll do to their SOS.

Two of the three metrics in the current BCS formula are based on human rankings, the same human rankings that pushed Alabama ahead of Okie Light last year. There's no indication that the new playoff will only use computers so I have no idea what your point is.

There is no way to eliminate the human element. I can't imagine someone trying to claim otherwise.

Why do you keep responding to him?

The only teams that left are teams that continually kept getting their ass beat by Texas. The money coming in is all you need to prove that.

When did KU leave?

Kansas, Iowa State, Tech, and Baylor are 40% of the conference.

Teams that have BCS and Heisman winners. Not bad for the bottom of the barrel.

KU has made more money being associated with Texas than they could have ever hoped for.

They prime the Hawks well for their NC title runs.

In sports that don't count.

It's good to know it's about money though you couldn't tell by looking at KU's stadium.

I fixed that for you. If a team like Florida State joins the Big 12, it is just another automatic loss for KU every year in football.

Dear Lord. Rename him Repeatson and get it over with.
