Yes Clark made Pioli go with me to carry his luggage.

That picture is only 10 years ago but looks like should be from the late 80s or early 90s lol

When Romeo was fired I was working as a server at Applebee’s. One of my regulars was a Broncos fan. I remember telling him if Pioli got a second shot at a head coach my fandom would be in purgatory for a while. He told me he understood completely, as another year of Josh McDaniels would have done that for him. I told him he was an a-hole who didn’t understand real sports pain.

…he might be getting a better understanding now.

chiefzilla1501 01-05-2023 05:24 AM

Be an optimist. Without the pioli Romeo fiasco we don’t end up with Reid and therefore veach. Which led us to kelce and mahomes. Pioli was barely fired the year Reid happened to become available. Change any one small thing and none of the above happens. Most likely.

I think he needs to keep learning the lesson for at least a couple more decades.

Well sure.

Or. Maybe. Just ****ING MAYBE. You can be competent, make reasonable decisions based on reasonable accurate data points and hire good competent employees and hold said employees accountable.

Maybe we could have hired a Jim Harbitch type, had some good years and got Andy when it was time.

I will die on the hill that giving a guy that couldn't start in college and missed the playoffs throwing to the best WR corps ever assembed for the best coach that ever lived 65 Million without taking a ****ing snap is necessary to picking a good QB based off of a sound scouting and drafting strategy.

Philly didn't have to do it with Hurts. Cowbitches didn't have to do it with Dak. 9ers didn't have to do it with Purdy (maybe). Giants didn't have to do it with Jones. Green Bay certainly didn't do it with Rodgers. Seahawks, Lions, and the ****ing Bucs got theirs through FA

Bills didn't do with Allen. Brother****ing Cheatriot didn't do it with Jones. Fins didn't do it with Tua. Bengals - there is an argument they did. Ravens didn't do it with Lamar. Chargers didn't do it with Herbert. Jags certainly did with Lawrence. Flaming Tacks got theirs in FA.

That's your playoff contenders. It's pretty much us and the Bengals. And when we got Mahomes we did it off a 10 win season, so we didn't do it to get Mahomes. It's just Burrow that came from intollerable sadness.

Consider my flag planted. **** Squimin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards and Scott Franchise Killer Pioli.

I remember watching the press conference the day he fired Haley and he was sitting next to Clark and I was saying “You should be out the door with him you POS.”

I live in Colorado now. I've told my Bronco friends here told them that they still haven't had a heartbreaking playoff loss complete a controversial call that leads to our star quarterback sending them home with a signature win.

Then we can talk about being even. That Elway loss in the 97 playoffs was a villain origin story for me. Elway led to as more childhood tears for me than my inability to get girls in high school.

ROFL

Disagree. The 25 year playoff win drought is what they need. Without a generation of fans that hadn't seen a playoff win. The inescapable feeling of being snake bit and true hopelessness. If they could SUCK ASS for all Mahomes career and as long as possible post-Mahomes, that would be great.

**** Donk Forever.

I don't know about the Giants and Dolphins. The Giants were pretty bad for multiple seasons when they took Jones at 6-- Eli's final seasons were horrific. And remember that the Dolphins tried everything they could to tank and get the #1 overall pick that year they took Tua. They may have had a competent coach in place, but their GM/ownership fielded a piss poor team on purpose, and for awhile it looked like they were a shoo-in for that #1 overall.

Buehler445 01-05-2023 01:30 PM

Yeah, the Giants are closer, I'd still take there look over our decade of darkness. The only epically bad year was the 3-13 year (What up, Spags?), 5 wins during the decade of darkness is cause for celebration.

18 5-11
17 3-13
16 11-5
15 6-10
14 6-10
13 7-9
12 9-7
11 9-7

Fins aren't even close. Mediocre, yes. Decade of Darkness? No.
fins
19 5-11
18 7-9
17 6-10
16 10-6
15 6-10
14 8-8
13 8-8

Even with that the point still stands that you don't have to suffer fools to get dudes. Because again, we got Mahomes after 10 wins IIRC.

The idea that tanking leads to the promised land needed to die in the cradle. **** that shit. **** Squirmin Herman Mother****ing Sack of **** Edwards. **** Scott Franchise Killer Pioli.
