Graeter's is a Cincinnati-based ice cream. They've recently started moving out - Kroger carries them in some locations (they started in South Carolina a couple years ago), and Winn Dixie and Publix started carrying them down here in Alabama earlier this year.

So if you've got a Kroger, Winn Dixie or Publix nearby, I'd look for 'em. Best ice cream I've ever had.

Not sure whereabouts you are in NC, but they're all over the place there. Pop in your zip code: http://www.graeters.com/locations.aspx

I'm embarrassed to say this, but my favorite ice cream is the Safeway store brand, "Moose Tracks". It's vanilla ice cream with swirls of fudge and itty-bitty peanut butter cups. I usually avoid store brands because I feel like they steal the creative property of the real brands, but I've never seen a real brand with this flavor.

And since I just picked a store brand, I guess I have more in common with Deberg than I thought.

Help is on the way, Rain Man. Moose Tracks is not a "store brand". That is Denali! Did you know there are now 30 different flavors of Moose Tracks now? I didn't until I checked the website. http://www.moosetracks.com/

I've tried many of their flavors, but never their coconut. Can't stand the texture of coconut.

I lived within 2 miles of one of their stores.

It's even better there if you can believe it.

I know! I've had it "fresh" at one of their Louisville stores. I've also figured out already that the Publix does a better job than Winn Dixie. It seems it's melted and refrozen from Winn Dixie...

For the lactose intolerant, this shit is the bomb:

You have to love coconut, obviously. I actually prefer it sometimes.

Maggie Moos used to be good when it was based in the KC area, then those jack asses from the Washington DC area took it over and screwed it up.
