Notice how your name is NOT BOLDED...

That means that you haven't donated any money or contributed to the servers costs at all over these last 10 years.

For example, Bane could bitch if he wanted to... but luckily, he is not a bitch like you. He actually helped the situation out.

As soon as you stop having gay sex with girls the server will be fixed. It's all up to you. And no matter how badly you want it to be the case, girls are girls. They aren't guys. So just make the switch officially and stop kidding yourself that you're straight. lol

Yes.

DaFace said that the current server couldn't handle the load, but in order to upgrade it costs more money per year.

I'm assuming this means if they get a better, more expensive server, then it would work better.

The fundraiser has been suggested, but neither DaFace nor AustinChief have started a thread.

I hope that their humility isn't keeping us from a better working site.

Well, kind of. A server upgrade would help, but chances are, that doesn't happen until the end of the season regardless. That would require substantial downtime and is beyond my expertise.

That said, we have NEVER operated in the black for more than a month or two at a time, so I'm sure Kyle would appreciate any help.

I see a green one. I think that's because the dollar is green, or something.

I presume it is secure and details aren't shared?

I tried. I purchase shit online at least 2-3 times a week with this card at a variety of places without any problems but for some reason every time I try to use paypal I get this message.

How much is typical? $50 or so? And, now that I think of it, I don't think I will donate since that fucker DaFace castrated my rep power.

You are leasing the hardware and bandwidth. The software is typically the responsibility of the client. (This is pretty typical for all but your most basic web sites.)

That's quite a bit.

I think that the current server costs somewhere around $3000 for a year. I could be way off.

By all means though if you think $50 is a good number then donate that. I'm going to donate $20 probably.

Hardware may indeed be the answer, but I don't know enough to know for sure. My gut feeling is that the issue has to do with the configuration of our database software. Web applications are significantly more complicated than your typical home computer application when it comes to how you set it up and how to make it run optimally (at least on the scale we're using it).

Well, actually unless they have a very old server, it should handle a thousand or so on at once with some slowdown but not crashing... I had over 750 online at once on my server.. and it barely got over a 2 on the server load

I know at peak times, especially after a loss this place is hard to get on but during the week this should not be happening... Still think it may be a bad stick of ram or a hard drive beginning to stick and fail

Eh, maybe, but I doubt it. The basic underlying condition is that we occasionally have a query that just gets "stuck." Many times, it's a completely innocuous query (like the one that grabs the posts for a thread), so it's not that the specific query is the issue. But when one gets stuck, it locks the POST table, which causes tons of others to back up behind it.

Most of the time, the stuck query eventually finishes up, and the rest then complete. That's what is happening when we have a 15-30 second lag here and there.

Other times, the query just gets stuck for an insane amount of time. They're supposed to time out after a few minutes, but often don't for some reason. When that happens, it can take the place down for a long time until MySQL eventually croaks and resets itself. By that point, the stuck query has driven our server loads through the roof, so it takes even longer for the average load to come back down far enough for vB to let people back in. That's generally the issue we've seen on gamedays.

I THINK it has something to do with our memory allocation (key_buffers and stuff like that), but my tweaks don't seem to make any difference.

Our POST table is over 2 gigs in size - that's much more of a likely culprit than heavy user load. I've added a couple indexes, but that obviously hasn't helped much.

If you can explain to the people I sent you the PM about, I am almost positive they can fix something like that. I just make a ticket out and the problem is fixed within a few hours and they tell you exactly what they did too.

I propose a "SAVE THE AIDS TREE" fund raiser.

I have a nice Chiefs leather coat that I don't wear anymore, but is a custom made one of a kind coat I would donate for a raffle or just outright bidding with proceeds going towards the planets new server if it would help.

When the server load gets very high, sometimes you have to wait until it crashes if the server is in a remote location because the admin can't get in there either...

It's kinda like an hourglass and a bottleneck effect, your command gets processed when your sand gets through...

I have a nice Chiefs leather coat that I don't wear anymore, but is a custom made one of a kind coat I would donate for a raffle or just outright bidding with proceeds going towards the planets new server if it would help.

I have a pair of slightly used (Like New) nuthooks that I'd donate.
