Favorite Artist and Song from Video game?

I always liked playing Madden 2003 and hearing Aww Naww hell no by nappy roots when I cranked it up. Tony Hawk...crazy taxi had good ones as well.

Aren't you banned assclown?

QuikSsurfer 03-21-2013 09:12 PM

So we're posting licensed music in video games?

Well that's ****ing stupid.

Bump 03-21-2013 09:13 PM

I always enjoyed the orginal Mario music, its just classic. But Red Dead Redemption had a nice soundtrack. And for playing a game, that jack black metal rock game was pretty sweet to listen to while you play.

Bump 03-21-2013 09:14 PM

and of course, guitar hero obviously had the best music to listen to while playing a game, lol.

nstygma 03-21-2013 09:26 PM

i really like the gta3 soundtrack

Saulbadguy 03-21-2013 09:27 PM

I meant what I said, Akira Yamaoka wins this thread. It's not even a question, mother ****er.

Gravedigger 03-21-2013 09:51 PM

Darksiders 2 Battle with the Maker, in recent memory was the baddest ass song to have a boss battle to.

Kingdom Hearts, the original, had a good soundtrack as well.

Oh yeah and Twisted Metal 3 with Rob Zombie was always a great combo.

Nobuo Uematsu was an amazing composer who really did a great job matching the music with the scene.

I'll never forget playing Final Fantasy IV when I first heard this theme.

I knew shit got serious all of a sudden and I got wrecked :) I miss the days when Square actually put effort in what they did beyond some CGI's

Gonzo 03-22-2013 05:48 AM

Uncharted 2 and 3 had a good soundtrack but I have got to go with Red Dead Redemption.
The music changed depending on where you were and what was going on, seamlessly.

great choice. SOTN had 30+ tracks, almost all of them written by Michiru Yamane.

I really liked the soundtracks to the Myth series of games
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0IQY_js0DkM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Beyond the Coudspire ( 10:26) and The Great Library (12:26) are the best tracks on there IMO

My favorite from the 8 bit era.
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mrjD6p2tmlg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

there was a lot of good music on the NES games. Rygar had multiple tracks that were good and the entire Mega Man series was loaded. Mega Man 2 was my favorite.

720 degrees had an awesome soundtrack for an arcade game

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines had a great soundtrack. I remember going into the whorehouse sometimes just to hear this playing in the background (before youtube).

Welching bitch. Did your father have no integrity and pass his shitty character down to you, or are you a total ****bag of your own accord?

ZootedGranny 03-23-2013 11:47 AM

Embrace this, play this repeatedly, and in your final moments of life, as you're falling into the abyss...

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JwLLwpRfl-8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I chose this version for the hilariously awkward moment at :58.

But seriously, most of my favorite video game songs are from NES classics, and that's mainly due to nostalgia. As far as recent games, the soundtrack to Hotline Miami was good.

Demonpenz 03-23-2013 01:04 PM

i have no idea what I just watched LMAO

RedDread 03-23-2013 04:40 PM

Going from oldest to newest. First: Super Nostalgia

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LI_mwl3QcYA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Next: C&C Red Alert. This is the first song I actually listened to outside of playing a game. I can't believe no one posted this yet.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Tb-gI_pFog0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Third: Terran Theme from Starcraft 1. Still get chills when I hear this.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3V9wMRuJuYw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Lastly, the main theme from Skyrim. I JUST WANT TO KILL SOMETHNG.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2-_g8NZr1tA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

jd1020 03-23-2013 07:32 PM

In Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit I would flip through all the songs til it played this one...

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YkzHmp26JvE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I really like Matthew Santos.

And...

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4aeETEoNfOg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

From GTA4.

No it isn't. I came in here to post the same thing. SH2 had the best game music of all time, with Castlevania Symphony of the Night in close second. Really all of the SH games with Akira Yamaoka are awesome though.

Honorable mentions: Metroid (Prime series included), Kid Icarus as far as NES music, Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (favorite of that franchise for me personally).

ThaVirus 03-23-2013 11:50 PM

Kind of gay but I really liked this song when I played Kingdom Hearts:

Jealous. :(

I'm glad I got to see The Black Mages before the group disbanded. Now that I mention that, they actually did Battle with the Four Fiends.

Ducktales "moon" theme is where it's at.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that. All the nostalgia.

While we're on the topic of licensed music in video games, this one always stuck with me from MVP Baseball 2005.
